Will EARLY January have same crowds as X-Mas?

We're considering an early January (3-4) Dland trip to end the winter schook break in style. I understand crowds are worst around Christmas and best in January. Will January 3-4 be somewhere in the middle...or is that still Xmas peak? We went on a summer weekend last year and had a great time, but long lines were a bummer. Any advice or guidance?

We will be there 1-6 as well and are expecting it to be busy but not super jam packed.
