Will Disneyland do this for me?

Hey, all. I'm going to Disneyland for the FIRST TIME in September and I'm so excited that I can barely stand it!!!! While there, I plan to purchase some great Disney collectibles for my collection at home.

If I buy more than I should (which is most likely going to happen), will Disneyland ship my collectibles home? Or, would I have to ship them myself from California?? It IS Disney, so something tells me that they'll do it! If so, does anyone know how much this could cost (a range)???

I appreciate any insight!!

Thanks!

YES!! They will ship for you!! I don not know how much, but it is not cheap (but is anything at Disneyland cheap??)
On an interesting note: A coworker of mine went WDW not to long ago and was purchasing some collectables. Snowglobes are considered collectibles. Snowglobes cannot go on airplanes, they have to be shipped, and the CM ringing her up didnt even tell her that!! Crazy huh!

What king of collectibles are you planning on purchasing. I am a WDCC collector and a WDCS member. I dont have many, but I do want many, they are just so darn expensive!!

Actually, they can go on CHECKED luggage, NOT CARRY-ON.

My dd7 bought a snowglobe and the CM told us that and wrapped it VERY well in tissue and bubble wrap. That was also confirmed at the airport when they asked if we had snowglobes. I told her it was in the checked luggage and it was fine.

I know someone who flew down just for the day, bought a snow globe and wasn't told about the restrictions on board.

Since she was just there for the day, flying home that night, she had no luggage. She had to leave the snow globe behind at the airport.

I know that for my $48 print (mailed in a tube) was $13 for shipping. I dont know what they based the price on- weight or price. They did ask if I wanted 2 or 4 day. I went with 4, as it was cheaper. They sent it 2 day UPS.

Yes, you can CHECK the snowglobes in your luggage. But not carry on, of any size either! Not even the small tiny ones!

I plan on taking mine to UPS or USPS and shipping them myself if I buy one. I don't trust they'll be in one piece in my checked luggage. LOL It's cool that they'd ship it for you, but I think I'd be more comfortable doing it myself. Probably cheaper to take it there yourself too.

If they ship it, and it breaks they will replace it. If you ship it or take it in your suitcase and it breaks its your loss. Just something to keep in mind.

That's a good point. I would pay the insurance on it if I shipped it myself. Suitcase is just too risky I think!

Do they give you some kind of proof that they are shipping it? I just would have a hard time walking out of the store, having dropped $100 on a globe, with them promising to ship it.

My other thing would be if I end up buy multiple things, all those different shipping costs would add up! LOL Otherwise I could just ship a lot of things in one bigger box towards the end of the trip. Guess I'll have to see when I get there! LOL

The snowglobe my dd bought was a small $12.xx item. It was important to her and she loves it. If it would have been one of the larger bigger $$ snowglobe, I would have looked into shipping it home.

I was just glad they told us when we bought it (they also had small signs that mentions the airline policy, but it would be easy to miss).

i just had 2 large mickey mouse figurines ship to me in Australia. We purchased on a monday and they arrived in Australia the following monday both in excellent condition , The shipping charge was a killer $370.00 US , but i just had to have them.:cool1:

When I was last in Disneyland, the Emporium had signs up by the snowglobes stating that they offer shipping services because of FAA regulations.

Disney will ship to your home. We bought the Kinkade 50th Anniversary print for my mother when they didn't have any in stock and they shipped it to us. I've also purchased some sketches there and they always take my address down in case I forget to pick it up or something like that.

The only question you have to worry about is how much shipping will cost for the items you're purchasing. I read elsewhere that they charge about $45 shipping for a big figure. I don't know prices on smaller high end collectables like the WDCC or Armani figurines.

They gave me a receipt that showed the shipping charge, along with the order to print my Jungle cruise print. I had bought a bunch of other things as well, that were not getting shipped and they were on the long standard receipt. They accidently forgot to put my Mickey kitchen trivet in my bag of stuff I was taking with me. It showed up with the JC print a couple days after our trip, in its own box. I hadnt even noticed it was missing yet.

I cannot say for sure anything about shipping from DLR, but I worked at WDW and we shipped there also. The policy may have changed (and may be different in CA) but in FL, when you paid to ship an item, you didn't pay FL tax. I have NO IDEA about tax laws in either state, but I know we had a specific keyboard function to remove the tax on the shipped items only. So you may pay a pretty penny for the shipping, but it may help if you aren't having to pay tax. Please hear me repeat myself - this may not be the case in CA, but I wanted to throw it out there in case someone can confirm. I wish I could be more helpful, but DLR is not my area of expertise. :confused3 Many people here do know quite a bit :worship: and are quite helpful, so we hope that can confirm or correct this info.

Yeah the more I think about it, if I do buy a big snowglobe, I think I will have them ship it to me. Or even some of the larger figurines that I am known to buy. I'd probably let them do it. Just better if they'll replace it if something happens. Better then fighting the post office for the insurance money, and then you still don't have your item!

Although if I just happen to buy too much stuff (because I'm so used to STUFFING our car full, but were flying for the first time) I may just ship some of those things myself. But the extra fragile things, would work wonderfully, and be worth the extra shipping costs I'd assume.

I wonder why airlines won't let you carry a snow globe onto an airplane? Seriously, how deadly can a snow globe be? :confused3

It could contain materials that may explode when shaken! ::yes::

Some items Disney will insist you ship so you can't use it in any way while at the resort. For example, at Epcot in the Japan area I wanted to buy a samurai sword and the policy on these items was that they had to be shipped home so you could not 'play' with them in your resort room. It is good for obvious public safety factors and also you don't have to lug it back home yourself.

You could fill it with nitro glicerin or some other explosive. The government is saying this morning that Al Quaida and other organizations of the sort are now focusing again on planes. Liquids can be scary.

Play with, or perhaps, go all Uma Thurman on you fellow hotel guests... :scared1:

I think it's worth noting here another service Disneyland offers. While I think most of us probably know it, there may be some who don't.

Disneyland delivEARS enables you to buy something from the parks after your visit. I used it last December when I decided to buy a Goofy Christmas tree plush that I bought for my sister for Christmas. I liked it so much that I decided that I wanted one too, so I called delivEARS and they found it for me.

I know of a case where a little girl lost a nightgown her parents bought her at the parks. All they had was a decription, but Disney was able to find the exact nightgown and send it to her parents.
