Will Disney transfer luggage from DLH or PP to GCH?

I have a ressie at the Villas at the Grand Californian, but will be flying in the night before. I'm hoping to use DVC points to get a regular room at either the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier for the night before.

The next morning, we're hoping to hit the parks early, so would be nice if we didn't have to worry about our bags. Once we check out, will they be able to transport our luggage from the hotel to the Grand Californian so that they will be there when we check in after being at the parks?

They would not move the bags for us when we asked last year. They will keep your bags in the bell area until you decide to move, but you can always call and ask. This last August they would not move the bags to a GCH room from the villas unless there was an adult in attendance when they picked them up. Just our past experiences.

You probably can't get them to move the bags into your specific room, but I don't see why they wouldn't transfer the bags from one bell desk to the other. You should call and ask.

Seriously, they won't do this. You have to treat it like you are checking out of one hotel and checking into a completely separate, unrelated hotel.

If you're lucky, they may let bell services (with a bell services cart) accompany you to the next DLR hotel, but it's not a given.

They will hold your bags at the hotel you're checking out of, until you're ready to collect them and go check in at your new hotel. Bell Services will even hold your bags at your new hotel if your room isn't ready yet. But, they will not move your bags from one hotel to another.

Wow, that is a pain in the butt. But worth saving a couple hundred bucks a night, I suppose.

I'm just curious since you asked this. Have you been to WDW and done this?

I only ask because at WDW transfering between the resorts is fairly common because of all the DVC villa locations. A lot of people slit there stay, staying for example one night in a hotel and then using their point for 5 nights in a villa.

This is probably why I thought it would be okay. I didn't do this when I visited WDW, but when I was doing my research, I read about many others who had.

Seems like something they should offer at Disneyland as well. But I guess I understand why they don't.

Yes, I've had our luggage transferred at WDW before so you would think they'd do it for the DLR hotels, but they don't.:sad2:
