Will Disney Springs boost SSR interest?

I really like SSR so and the closeness to DTD, so for me this is a plus, but they will have to watch the bus and people getting the free parking - they should give you a wrist band for the bus, just like they do for Stormalong bay

I remember them combining the resorts. Why did they do that?

Cost cutting - it allowed them to put both resorts under one management structure. As I recall, it was part of the "post 9/11" efforts - for a year or so after that, huge swaths of resorts were just shut down for "refurbs" that really didn't happen.

Crisi, is correct. They combined the resorts at Riverside to reduce management, into one management team over both resorts. They even closed entire buildings at Riverside during that time period.

The only credence given to the name change being PC, was on internet forums.

The name represents the Port of Orleans hence Port Orleans, then you have two sections French Quarter and Riverside representing the area along the river outside of New Orleans. Dixie came from the French Word dix, meaning ten.

We are all going to get a wristband anyway, so it should not be difficult to check it when boarding the bus.

Did they ever reopen those buildings?

If they add more entertainment options at Disney Springs then staying at SSR would be more appealing to us since we no longer feel we need to spend every waking moment in the parks. SSR is a nice resort, just not as heavily themed as most of the others. Right now I'm in wait and see mode on whether we'll book SSR for our next trip.

My 3 kids are teens now and being able to walk over the new bridge to spend some time at Dis Springs on their own....I know they'd love it and DH and I could have some time to ourselves.
While the new bridge will cut down on a little bit of walking and lead directly into the marketplace, there's already a bridge that leads from SSR into the current Marketplace bus area. You can walk to DTD today.

Back in the day in order to get on the "Resort" monorail from MK you had to show a room key to show you were staying at one of the resorts. Why can't they have that as a way to load onto the SSR and OKW buses? This would weed out people staying off property using the bus to get to DTD.

The because people are stilling dining at the restaurants and using the spa, we have reservations at The Turf Club on our upcoming trip and we are staying at POR
