Will Disney continue making the Narnia series?

I believe the movie made $67 million on opening weekend. Do you know if that is enough for Disney to have faith in the franchise? I would love to see some of the other books made into movies.

I hope that this met/exceeded their expectations.

I was wondering that myself. I've only read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, so I don't really know what the other books are about.

:earsboy:

They had the four children who played the Pevensies in the movie on TV the other day and they said there will be other movies, but I don't know how they could do that, as The Lion, The Wtch, and The Wardrobe was book 4 or 3 in the series... unless they do it Star Wars style. That being said, if they do decide to do the others, I can only imagine what The Last Battle will be like.

I took our granddaughters to see the movie on Saturday. On the way home I told them that there were 6 more books in the series. But I said that I didn't know if they were going to make any more of the movies. The 8YO said "why would you write a book if you're not going to make a movie out of it?" :rotfl2:

We saw the movie yesterday, and I thought it was alright. I found it a little boring since I already knew the story, and I thought the actors playing Susan and Peter were downright blah. My husband, however, LOVES these books, and I do hope they make more films from the book series.

But what I am really hoping for if a film series does indeed take off is a new Narnia-themed ride at WDW :cool1:. And no, I haven't heard any rumors. I'm just wishing :goodvibes.

Well, Krista, there is always the walk through at MGM! ;)

I thought the ending of the movie left it wide open to continue with more. I have always thought the L, W, W was #2 and the Magician's Nephew was #1.

I'm hoping for more because it was more than just an movie to entertain IMHO.

Well, that's not exactly the kind of attraction I had in mind :teeth:. You know what's sad? We were there last week and missed the Narnia exhibit's opening by one day. We were all excited when we saw the signs, but we left Tuesday and it opened Wednesday :(.

I know what you mean about the attraction!!
And I have also missed a few things i wanted because DH said it was time to go home!!

yes it's the first book written, the chronological first is a prequel. They made this one first because the next one in the series is the only other one with all four children in it. This way they can shoot those two first while all the kids are the right ages. In the others if I remember right the kids are older.

I hope they do make the other books into movies. I remember reading them as a older child and loving them.

i would think that with the opening weekend ranking, we will see the making of the other books into movies. all four pevensies do return in prince caspian, but it plays along with the books that the older children would be older, as they do not return to narnia again because they are too old. two of the books the magician's nephew and a horse and his boy would be considered prequels and do not have the pevensies in them.

just a copy of my post from another thread, good news for all narnians out there, a friend from church who runs a marketing company here, had a hand in marketing the movie, and she said that disney was very happy, their biggest opening ever, and she was put on alert to be ready to do it again several times, so the green light is aparently on for the other books.
