we will be in mk sun 16th sept and need to be at chef mickey's for 11.10am does anyone know if it is still possible to walk or will constuction be in the way ? if it is possible could someone please tell me the route i'm just wondering if i may need to use the monorail? thx

When we were there a couple of months ago, you could still walk between the Contemporary and MK. The construction doesn't interfere with that path.

The construction is behind and to the side of the tower, on the Bay Lake side. The path to MK is in front of the tower. You won't have any problems at all. :)

If you are going from MK to CR, exit MK and turn left, as if you were going toward the ferry and bus stops. You will see a paver path going to the left of all the bus area, along the grass and bushes. There is a small sign that says Walkway to Contemporary Resort. It follows along under the monorail track. You will cross World Drive (there is a crosswalk and crossing light) and follow the sidewalk past the guard shack to the CR bus stop. If you continue walking past the bus stop, you will see the doors to the CR lobby ahead of you. Go through those doors and turn left. You should see the escalators at the back of the lobby that will take you to the 4th floor. If you prefer to take the elevators instead, continue straight when you enter the lobby. You will see furniture to your left, and then what appears to be a wall. This is the back of the elevators. Turn left just past here and you'll see them.

I can also confirm the construction has no effect on the walkway to and from the Magic Kingdom, so you got nothing to worry about.

What about the noise? Has anyone just come back from Contemporary and found the construction noise unbearable? I never thought about afternoons at the pool and stuff, yikes! :scared1:

Last month I was there when the new store on the 4th floor was just starting to get built and during the afternoons you could hear the banging if you were staying in a Tower room. However they did not work on it in the evening, so if your at the parks all day chances are you won't hear anything.

Besides that late at night they were working on renovating part of the check-in desk which was closed off, however you only heard that if you went down there around 11:00 PM if you needed to ask them something.

As for the pool I don't think they have plans to renovate it because every Cast Member I asked said nothing about it.

We didn't stay there but we ate at Chef Mickey's one day last week - the noise was horrendous on the 4th floor. We were seated toward the back of Chef Mickey's though and didn't hear any noise there.

But out in the hall it was terrible - we were trying to talk to a CM at the new arcade and it was nearly impossible.
