Who expects much for that price, right? But if they will just fall apart, I'll skip it.

Lets put it this way... by the time they "fall apart" they'll no longer be fashionable.:thumbsup2

For trendy, seasonal purchases I'd rather go cheap. Spend the $$ on the classics that will stay in style year after year, but spend as little as possible on seasonal trendy stuff. A few cheap fun things from H M to liven up your wardrobe for a season sounds like fun!

It depends on the material. I've had cotton/knit tops that the hem comes undone, etc. Similar to Old Navy. But I have 2 linen dresses that I bought in 2005 and they are still going strong. Granted, I can't fit into them after having DD, but I hope someday I will ;). I've really worn them a ton, one was my go to little black dress. I also still have a jean skirt that's in really good shape that I bought in 2002. That one is 3 sizes smaller than I currently wear, so I'm not holding my breath on that one, lol. For the most part, I've had good luck with my purchases there.

I have a few tops from them. The all cotton t shirts seem to shrink if dried, and I accidentally throw 3 of them in the dryer:headache: the 2 that I remember to hang dry do just fine. I have a rayon top that washes up great and linen pants I wish would shrink and wont.:lmao: I have one spaghetti type tee that is all cotton that I wash and dry a lot and still fits great and I have had it a few years now. I must get back to H&M before my trip in Nov.

....but is very careful with them. You do get what you pay for - but with care they usually last longer than most people want to wear them.... :)

I don't know. I had one good piece and one really bad... I would rather invest in better clothes from Lands End, LL Bean, Gymboree, etc. on sale. I'd even rather buy those brands used.

ITA.

Frankly, most clothes today are of similar quality. I've purchased way too many *designer* clothes that were of the same quality as clothes from H & M, and also made in 3rd world countries. Start reading the labels and you'll see.

I like the kids' clothes for DD. She grows so fast they don't get time to wear out.

I'm just not fashionable enough to buy clothes from there for myself. :lmao: I remember liking their bras, though!

This too. I was out shopping with a friend yesterday and noticed this about a lot of clothing.

Ever since K-Mart bought Land's End, some of their stuff hasn't been great for me either. It seems like I don't even know where to pay more for stuff that lasts anymore.

Yep.

Like others if you simply want a trendy top or sundress not a problem. I purchased a couple of tees from them and after 1 wash they shrunk.

so I'd rather buy a lands end tee for 14 bucks and have it actually last a few summers than buy the 3.99 one from H&M or kohls and have them shrink.

last year, stupid me brought a pair of cords from H&M knowing I'm spoiled by Talbots cords simply because they were 1/2 the price. They were cheaply made, horrible stitching and after a couple of months starting "wearing" through.

I would stick with them for trendy pieces or accesories, but skip if you want to have some thing longer than 3 months. IMO that's pretty much the life span of their clothes.

I've gotten at least a seasons wear out of anything I've purchased at H&M. But between my clumsiness and a sticky handed toddler that's all the wear I get out of anything, lol.

So I'd rather pay just a little bit of money and have it not last than pay a lot and have it get ruined anyway.

See I noticed the opposite. I don't buy many "labels" but my clothes from talbots and eddie Bauer are much better made. Material is better quality. I get tee shirts from kohls that I can literally see through the material to my hand. I like heavy quality cotton that looks nice and smooth over my bulges. :lmao: and like I said, I've never brought a cotton shirt from Kohls that didn't shrink. I wash in cold water and dry at cool.

Same with skirts and jeans. I've purchased jeans from kohls that literally had the stitching crooked and zippers that you almost need a pair of pliers to zip up.

Maybe it's because I'm a bit round :rolleyes1 I really check the quality of skirts and pants. too much "junk in my trunk" to have skimpy thin material stretched across it.

I am glad you posted this! It reminded me to go there to look for a few things for DD. I also felt like how could it last for so cheap. I bought a few things for the summer for DD, and they have been great. I don't really need things to last longer than a season for my DD anyways, so if a few pieces don't last, I am ok with that. Although I do, I hate buying from gymboree etc.....

Oh besides now with sales, coupons and a few outlet malls, really well made clothes from Bloomingdales, talbots and others don't have to cost a lot.

I brought a lands end bathing suit that is stunning and a lot better made on sale at the end of the season for $18.00 bucks. It was actually 9 bucks and shipping was the other 9.00 It will definitely take me to Disney for a good 5 years.

I have never had any problem with H & M items. Old Navy falls apart before you get out the door, but H & M are always good.

I have some H&M T-shirts for the kids that have held up amazingly well for the price. They were short sleeve but came with a white long sleeve shirts underneath so you could wear them year round. They've held up amazingly well. One shirt is on it's fourth year of wear (by two different kids)and is still going strong and still looks nice - youngest DS wore it yesterday in fact. The other was worn for a full 18 months before youngest outgrew it. :thumbsup2

I think H&M is actually really good quality for the price. I have some jeans and tops i bought there almost 10 years ago that are still in great shape.

My DD15 went to H&M thinking she'd love to buy some cheap fashionable clothing and hated everything she saw. Forever 21 is her staple instead. She's still growing, so I don't encourage too many buys of quality at this point, but will eventually suggest it.

May grandson (21) and I were shopping in H&M last night...Overall I see some pretty cheap prices but wasnt impressed with the quality.
I would rather pay more for his slacks and they not skrink or wear out in a season..
He bought a shirt at Express...it was pricey.....
