Just returned from our Disney Cruise and spent last night in a standard 2BR (4008 & 4010) at the BWV. It overlooked the area where the old red building used to be. The area is starting to look very nice. (I took some pictures and will post them in the next couple of days). From our room we could see the fireworks from the 10 P.M. Fantasmic, the ToT, the canal, the Swan and the Dolphin. When the gardens are complete, these rooms will be much sought after, especially if they stay standard view. But if they don't stay standard, it will cut in on the number of standard rooms available and make them that much harder to get.

I wasn't there long enough (only 1 night) to ask anyone about this. Does anyone know know what the plan is or at least take a guess at it with me.

I believe the rooms would either have to remain standard view, or they would have to do a total change in the point structure for the resort.

Remember, the total number of points to reserve all the rooms for an entire year is fixed and cannot be changed. If DVC takes standard view rooms and converts them to Preferred view, they have effectively raised the total point pool which violates the POS.

Hi Cat, I hope you post your pics soon. I am going for my first trip home, standard view studio. Requested a studio on the other side, I think....facing the busstop. Thought i'd catch Illuminations over the convention center building.
But do you think I might like to try for a studio on the 'red blg side"? Would there be any studio configurations on that side? And is that where they are building the croquet lawn? I love to see water from my unit...only staying 3 nights and since it is midweek probably no 10 pm Fantasmic anyway. I will probalby only be in my room one night by 10. But the day view of TOT and the canal and the Swan would be prettier than the entry road to BWV I think.

If I do request that view, how do you think I should word it?
Thanks for your help! Can't wait til you post the photos!

Another option would be to take some of the marginal preferred view rooms and make them standard view. There have been some complaints on this board about some of the preferred view rooms. They would be prime candidates for conversion to standard view.

That area will become preferred view because it actually is part of the preferred view rooms and it appears they have just been using it for standard reservations while the construction gets completed. The actual standard view rooms are those in the front of the building and overlooking the tennis courts.

I believe they used to be preferred view. I know someone who got one as preferred view a few years ago and asked to be moved. I remember them saying they didn't want to pay preferred view points for a view of Jellyrolls dumpster. They started using them as standard view when they did the outside work 2 or 3 years ago. You also have to consider how they calculated the points for the new rooms. I still can't understand how they sold those extra points 2 years ago and the rooms are still not ready for occupancy.

This is exactly what I am thinking they will do too. A win/win for Disney and DVC owners.

HBC....hope your cruise was a great one! :)
