Will buying a MB mess up anything?

I already customized my MB on MDE and have my resort, dining, and FP+ booked. I've been eyeing a specialty MB, with the thought that I can use it this trip and for the next couple of years.

1) If I buy the specialty band once I'm there, how do I go about transferring resort, charging, and FP+ to the new band. Is this even possible? Will I mess anything up?

2) If I want to use this band on future trips, how do I go about that?

Nothing is actually stored on the magic band, what you would need to do is link that new band to your MDE account

Nope. It shouldn't. Once you buy the new MB, you can either Link it yourself to your MDE account, or I think the CM can assist you in doing so. Ideally, all of your Active MB's (up to I think 9, but I'm not sure on that number) should be interchangeable. Make sure you verify that your new one works for everything, including opening your hotel room though, before you go out without a backup (or someone else in your room). On my last trip, both of my MB's worked for charging to my room, park entry, and FP+, but my older one didn't want to work to unlock our hotel room.

Not at all. Last November, my DH decided he wanted a Pluto MB he saw in a shop. We just took it to the register with his other MB and the CM scanned the original one and then scanned the purchased one and it worked great.

The bands, as long as they are active/connected to an MDE account, are interchangeable. We each have two so far and change which one we wear every day pretty much. It's your MDE account that has all of that info (hotel, charging, etc) on it, not the physical band itself.

I have over 10 magicbands. I would have more if I didn't loose them all the time haha. I have 3 specialty bands alone. I bring a few with me each trip and use them interchangeably, no problem. I do deactivate ones that I'm not going to take back to make sure there aren't too many active ones at a time.

It won't mess anything up. A member of my party bought a specialty band once we were there and in under 30 seconds, the CM had it linked to our MDE. Easy peasy.
