I'm trying to figure out if we want to do some character meals and the twins turn 5 while we are at the park and I wanted to take them to Ariel's for their birthday meal but now I'm wondering if the boys will think it's silly or not? My boys are 12,9,8,6, and 3. I'm wondering if maybe we should do Minnie and Friends or Goofy for their birthday meal and then plan a girls only meal at Ariels? We are taking my sister who is 19 so we could split up.

What do you think??

Ariel's Grotto is definitely girly. It's all princesses. Unless the boys are into princesses, I would probably choose something else.

Same. If you just had one boy, I would say they might be able to "suck it up", but with five boys, I think you'd be in for some eye-rolls and groans. Maybe, as you mentioned, splitting up and just taking the girls to Ariel's would be the way to go, and your sister can do something with the boys.

Your younger boys will find it stupid... Your oldest boy may like it for other reasons!

My boys are surprisingly tolerant of Ariel's Grotto. :rotfl: The last two times they went they were 10 and 6 and 9 and 5. They don't usually want to take any photos, but they like the food and are pretty good at ignoring princesses. Although on the last trip they actually let Cinderella teach them how to pose like a prince. On the other hand, they hated Akershus when we went to WDW. :confused3:lmao:

I've taken my son a few times, when he was 2 and 3. When we walked by it last week, he asked to go again! He's 4.5. We didn't go this time, but will again soon. He's young enough that he just sees it as a bunch of characters who are female. And he gets a ton of attention by being a "prince" when most of the young patrons are girls! I would think that older boys wouldn't be into it though.

My DGS LOVED Ariels' Grotto so much he requested it the second time we went..he seems to have a huge crush on Belle.....

My son loooooooves girls and women, especially 20-something pretty women. He's been like this since he was itty. He loooooooves princesses. We went to the Faire for him to meet the princesses.

If your boys are like that, take 'em. They will probably get a lot of attention, that's for sure!

But if they'll be in a "bleah, girls" mode...split up the party.

My 9 year old DS loves 1) the tri-tip on the kids menu and 2) he has a crush on Cinderella...

My 6 year old DS thinks all the Princesses have "cooties" and flat-out refuses to be in any princess photos! He'll only allow himself to be photographed w/ the Page! :lmao:

Partly due to cost and partly due to the fact that DS doesn't want to sit down and eat with princesses visiting the table, when DD and I last dined @ Ariel's DS purchased a counter service meal, ate it while sitting on a bench outside Ariel's then rode Screamin' (single rider) several times, this was in the middle of the day, he had a cell phone and we spoke often. If you plan to do more than one character meal do a girls only meal @ Ariel's and everybody can be together for Goofy's, Minnie's, Storyteller's, or Surf's Up.

DS did like our brunch with the princesses in Norway/Epcot ~ he liked the food. I made him get in the picture with Ariel cause she was just so cute!

Lol!

We were just there last week and our son is recently 6, and he LOVED all the yummy food, but when Snow White said, "Well, hello, will you come take a photo with me, my prince?" he grunted, "no!" and got all hissy. hehehehe

Good luck!
;)

My son was mortified last time we were there, and he was 6. He absolutely REFUSED to have his picture taken with any princess, although Wendy did a great job teasing a smile out of him and even snuck up behind him for a picture.
