So it just so worked out that I will be able to visit DL resort in July in conjunction with my brother's wedding in San Diego!! Great timing little bro!
Anyway, I chose my travel dates and then chose which days we will visit DL (not even thinking about the 60th). I chose arriving on July 16th in the evening and leaving on the 19th. And then it hit me - we will be in Disneyland Park ON it's 60th anniversary!!! WOO HOOO!
That said, I'm already starting to think about our park touring plans, dining, etc and I'm guessing that visiting DL on that day will be a unique experience and difficult to plan. I'm not going to worry about getting on tons of rides and "doing it all." I just want to be there that day and soak in the atmosphere of a big celebration in Walt's park. I'm excited about any special entertainment or presentations too.
My biggest question is about park capacity and crowds that day. Will the park reach capacity? We will be there for rope drop in the morning without a doubt, but what if we want to go back to our hotel (Grand Californian) for a mid-day break? Will we be able to get back into the park in the late afternoon evening? My thought is that we are going to have to tough it out for a very long day in the park if we want to experience all of the pomp and circumstance on the day of the 60th anniversary, from rope drop to closing fireworks at night.
Thoughts? Tips?
