Will adult con't to be allowed to dress up on the ships for pirate night and Halloween cruises?

I am really hoping the new rules in effect for MNSSHP will not roll over to DCL.

This was the first I'm hearing about this. I don't think the rules on the ship would change because we are all going through metal detectors and baggage screening.

Disney would be totally stupid to change the rules for the party. So many adults go to this event without kids. They would lose an incredible amount, in my personal opinion.

I personally think Disney needs to go ahead and screen all guests at the parks anyway. This "random" screening doesn't do much good and also makes people feel singled out. I totally believe the way things are that the screening is necessary, they just need to do it for everyone.

I know that would create a huge crowd issue. They would really have to come up with another way to get guests in the park to screen them all.

You can definitely dress as pirates as adults. My entire family were dressed as pirates and the adults had some very elaborate ($300+ for one guy) costumes.

I never realised there was no screening in the US parks. We had screening for years in France and it is fine. People happily comply - it is a small price to pay for security.

They certainly are allowing adults to continue dressing up for Pirate night. Did it a few weeks ago. I even had two plastic swords I brought along. No fuss.

My wife and I are booked on one of the Fantasy cruise next year that just became a Star Wars Day at Sea cruise. The email I got from DCL today telling me about this change included the following:

Please remember that while all Guests are invited to wear costumes for both Pirate Night and this special Star Wars Day at Sea celebration, masks that completely cover a person’s face may only be worn when standing still at character photo locations and must be carried when moving around the ship. We also ask that you choose costumes that are not obstructive or offensive. To avoid any disappointment or delay in the boarding process, please refrain from bringing toys or props that resemble guns, knives or other related implements, as these items will not be allowed onboard.

I can't see blocking adults from wearing costumes on board ship. Enforcing the rules already in place about weapons and masks, sure, but it would be a totally different experience if no adults could dress up. My pirate costume was a shirt, pants, and vest that was so comfortable to wear I wore it again the last night of the cruise just for fun. Pirate is cruise casual, right? As long as everyone is reasonable, I can't see costume rules changing, seeing so many people dressed for a theme night is really fun.
