will a 18-135 mm be sufficent for ice skating events?

I am thinking to buy a Canon 60D and it will come with a 18 to 135 mm lens,
will it be sufficient for the ice skating events?

Will you be able to get shots? Most likely. But you will probably need to take the camera off auto and they will probably be at higher ISO settings. A lot depends on why type of ice skating and how well it's lit. For example, spot light performances are actually often lit better than when they have just the rink lights on for group performances. And professional shows usually have even better lighting.

it is normally very bright...
Now that I am thinking may be I should just get a T3i..

this will be my first DSLR in the last 20 years...I can afford the price difference, hence I was thinking to get a better camera, but is a 60D better then T3i for my need?

BTW, a T3i package will come with the 55 to 250 mm, I thought the 18-135 mm will be more like an everyday lens

THe T3i and the 60D use the same sensor, so they have the same ISO range, performance and image quality. The 60D has a faster burst rate, which can come in handy for sports but it's not a necessity.

With those two bodies you won't get any difference in performance in low-light conditions.

What would make a difference would be a faster lens.

I ordered online from Best Buy, they do not have pick up from store for 60D, I decided to get a T3i given what I have learned here. Also picked up a book from BN on the way home.
