Wondering what folks think about the Wildlife Discovery Excursion. This is the special AK tour that's available to folks staying Club Level at any on-site resort (it's not the sunrise or sunset safari that's available only to AKL club level guests).

We'll be staying a few nights at WL club level in May and was thinking about booking the WDE, but wondering if it's worth the extra $50/person cost.

If you've done this WDE trip, was it worth it? What did you like best or dislike the most?

Thanks very much!

Iv'e never done it, but it sounds great! If you are into animals, seems like a great opportunity.

so worth it. it's a total waste of money to be staying club anywhere and not do it. for starters, you don't necessarily stay on the safari path. the truck can go off the path and stop.

I even had an almost near death experience when one of the rhinos decided to explore the truck by sticking his horn underneath it and rocking it back and forth.

a few photos from my personal experience (back in 2007):

Great to hear! Thanks--though I may not mention the rhino rocking to my wife!!

I agree that it is definately worth it. They take you off trail to some grat places and the animal keepers that ride along are very interesting. My daughter and I loved it!

WOW!!! Those are some pics!!!! I'm not even considering this another second it's a GO!!!

These look great!!! I booked it today... just wondering if anyone has input about taking a 5 and 7 year old on it?? They love animals, and I know the minimum age is 3 so we're o.k. there... but it's an hour long. Too long for them to sit??

Just booked it! We are so excited! We're going Tuesday June 8th at 10 am. I had to have the IPO do some ADR switching, and we're set! I just hope I can keep the secret and surprise DH as planned!! Thanks for sharing those amazing pics:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

VERY worth it---have done it 3 times. As for the kids, I took a 6 year old last trip and she was very attentive and enjoyed it.

One more question: is it still worth it if you go at the 1 pm time slot? I know the animals are more active in the morning... but 10 am is full!

Thoughts? Switch days and try for 10 am? Or keep the 1 pm?

Wow - love the pictures! I just booked this excursion for 7/6 @ 10am. Going to surprise our son (8 yrs old) at the end of the school year. We are staying club level at WL 7/4-7/10! We have stayed at WL before, but this is our first CL stay. Our son just qualified for Nationals so we are going to WDW after the tournament. Really looking forward to this tour!

Wow bradk, those are some great pics :thumbsup2
Wish I would've known about this tour when we stayed CL at the Poly last year (although the CL part was an unexpected upgrade at check-in, so likely there wouldn't have been times still avail). Anyways, I'll have to keep this in mind for our next CL stay

:cheer2: For the first visit the zoo, please take care of your baby. Because it is very important for the parents. Hoped that the Hong Kong baby(香港生子) can happy.:wizard:

Was thinking about booking this and found this thread. However, I didn't see an answer to the question about time of the excursion. Is it a must to get a 10am booking before the heat of the day sets it? I will be there in mid July so I'm guessing the answer is yes but am wondering if anyone has been on the 1pm with good results. That time would work better for our group.

We did this last summer but I'm pretty sure they no longer offer it. Instead they offer a walking tour, the Trek, I think.

I just received my itinerary planning form from the GF IPO and it's still on the form. Either they didn't remove it from the form or it's still offered. Anyone go on this excursion recently?
