Quick question.... First time staying anywhere other than SSR, and just booked at Wilderness Villas....

Do the Wilderness Villas share amenities with the Wilderness Lodge? (i.e. theme pool, etc.)

Yes. Although there is a quiet pool, fitness center, and nice lounge-room in the villas.

When are you going? I think the lodge pool and areas over there are being refurbished right now.

You may find your time split between using the amenities at the Lodge and the Villas as the Villas has a great fireplace with comfy leather chairs and the fitness center is top notch and free for DVC. While I do go to the large pool, I do like the quiet pool as well. You can visit Roaring Forks for counter service and Whispering Canyon for table service. Artist Point is one of Disney's fine dining options and is also at the lodge. I can't wait to go back - it is my favorite resort.

I agree with ccigliano. You will enjoy features of both resorts. Make sure you take some time to explore the upper reaches of WL. There are some very special places to sit and read or enjoy a great view of the lake that are almost always empty.

Artist Point is a fine dining option, but in my view is no where near the level of excellence it once was. Very difficult when you lose a spectacular head chef.

Like where?

We're going the begining of May 2007.... I'm concerned about the pool, since that is 90% of the reason we are going - we're not doing any parks this time.... Just going to "chill out" for a while....

Take the stairway next to Wispering Canyon up then turn and come back to the little fireplace alcove over the entrance and you have a quiet reading place that overlooks the main lobby. If you look across the lobby from there you can see that there is a little observation deck with seating where you can sit and enjoy the geyser and lake. I believe that is one more floor up.

Pool rehab should be done by then...probably by the end of March, we're going to be there next week, and we had gotten a letter notifying us of the rehab.

JimC - I really think we should keep some of these nooks and crannies to ourselves. If too many people find out - you know what happens. I sometimes want to tell people that the WL at Christmas is a dive just so I can be sure to get my ressies. ;)

Thanks. I wont tell.;)

If you get a chance rent bikes and head over to Ft Wilderness it's a beautiful ride and Ft Wilderness is such a great attraction in itself.
