Is there a way to request a 2BR dedicated villa, so we can be sure to get 2 queen beds in the second bedroom instead of a queen and a sofa bed? Thanks!

A dedicated 2-bedroom is not a request, it's a booking category.

Like erionm said, it's a booking category, meaning you call to book your vacation, ask for it and if it's available, they give to you and you'll have it when you show up. Of course, my lawyer told me to add that nothing is 100% etched in stone, but you'll get the darn thing. The heck with my lawyer!

I've never done this before obviously! So, does it cost more (take more points)? I'll be renting points from a DVC owner.

I will be booking a 2 bedroom, but I've read where some of them are a 1 bedroom with a connecting studio and that's when you get the one queen bed with a sofa in the second bedroom. Is this the case at WLV? When the member books it do they have to say they want dedicated?

The number of points for a 2-bedroom is the same regardless of the type (lock-off or dedicated).

A 2-bedroom lock-off is a 1-bedroom and a studio with a connecting door. VWL has both dedicated and lock-off 2-bedroom units. Yes, the member would need to ask for a dedicated 2-bedroom when the call to reserve. VWL is small and only has 44 dedicated 2-bedroom units and 45 lock-off 2-bedroom units.

We requested a lock off so we would have more room in the "studio" portion for a pack and play (we didn't need the second bed) so I know you can request one or the other when making the reservation.

I would just add that the dedicated 2BR villas are the first one MS uses when making reservations. The lock-offs maintain more flexibility for booking purposes (and subsequent resort capacity utilization).

So the bottom line is that you want to book as early as possible to get that dedicated 2BR. Preferably from a VWL owner who has the booking advantage for four months over all other DVC owners.

Good luck! :)

Actually the 2 bed dedicated has a lot of room because there is no kitchenette in it so that whole space is empty plenty of room for a pack and play. Also you don't have to worry about the little ones opening the extra door to the hallway and getting out. Just something to consider.

I agree, our little DGD had what seemed like a whole little room when she was in the pack and play in the area where the doorway/hall would go.
