We have an ADR booked at Whispering Canyon Cafe 6:30pm and then a Haunted Carriage ride 9pm (which starts near Pioneer Hall). It looks about a mile on Google maps - is there a path you can walk between the two - don't want to walk on road.

Presume other options are MK boat; does it stop at WL and then onto jetty for Pioneer Hall still? Sure that's what it did when we went to Back-yard BBQ a few years ago. Or bus?

Will we be able to get boat or bus back at about 9:30pm - not sure kids would fancy walk through woods afterwards-haven't told them its 'haunted' one!! :scared1::scared1: :rotfl2:

Other option is to park at Fort Wilderness campsite I suppose if it would make the late trip easier/quicker.:confused3

Any thoughts welcome

I think you can walk to FW from WL. The boat from MK also goes to both - so you can catch the boat to FW from WL or vice versa. I would ask at guest services when you get there just to be sure of the best way - especially for getting back.

If you parked at WL do you think the 3 hour pass would be sufficient time (not that they always are that strict depending on how busy it is)

we've walked the path from WL to FW, but during the day....not sure i'd want to be on it at night...

it's not that far as i recall, but we're hikers, so you can't really judge by what we think isn't too bad..

but again, i wouldn't want to walk the path at night...

as someone mentioned, there is usually a boat from WL to FW...

Yes, there is a proper footpath connecting both resorts and is around a mile long but as said, I'd not do it after dark - it's basically a 'woodland walk' so not paved - lots of critters but if it's been wet possibility of it being muddy too. I saw it in the daytime, but I don't even recall seeing any lighting, I may have just missed that as I wasn't looking for it though.

The buses at FW are a bit of a pain, you can't get a direct bus to anywhere from Pioneer Hall, you have to get the 'Loop' bus, which takes you to the main entrance and from there you transfer to a regular bus to the parks/DTD - nothing goes between FW and WL.

Boats are regular though as long as MK is open.

there is a walk between the 2 but would be very dark at night time. There is a boat that goes between, WL, FW and the contemporary, I think this would be your best bet

I would second all the above.

We use this boat a few times to get between resorts when stayed a WL. It runs about every 15 -20mins and doesn't take long. The boat pier is just beyond the main pool. One side is for the MK and the other for FW & CR.

We have used the boat between WL and FW and the service operates well and is a nice ride

am i understanding you correctly that you'll have a car?
if so, if the boats aren't running then i would drive to WL first, then get back into your car and drive over to the parking lot of FW, then hop on the bus that takes you back to pioneer hall - as i recall, all the internal buses get back to that area, but i may be wrong...i just used the internal buses a few weeks ago, but i don't remember...

Thanks every-one. Probably use the boat (I check it'll still be running at 9:30pm ish - Hoop-De -Doo finishes about 9:15 so hopefully).

Daft question - I assume it'll be too dark at 7:30pm in Oct to walk?

It is paved all the way. (unless you take the side path between Wilderness Villas and the lake). I don't recall whether it is lit at night as I have only used that path in daylight hours.

Ah right, was many years since I checked it out, I didn't actually walk the whole thing...we started but it was pretty muddy so we turned back. Either they've paved it since then or I do remember being quite close to the lake so perhaps it was the side path you mention - didn't know there was 2 paths!

Boats run until 11:30pm, thats way I would go, sign I took at Easter at Wilderness Lodge.
