Wilderness Lodge -- things to do

In my upcoming trip (Nov. '02), I would like to go to the WL and see what all the hoopla is about. They have so many activities that sound enjoyable.

Campfire Sing-a-long w/ Chip -n- Dale (roasted marshmallows)
Carriage Ride
Hay Ride
Afternoon tours
rental boats (I have coupons for Sunfish and WaterSprites)
rental bikes

Would some helpful DISers please point me in the right direction of some wonderful entertainment?

My DH and I are staying at DTD (Courtyard by Marriot). I would love to take an afternoon -- or day -- away from the parks and play at WL. Is there really a lot to see and do?

Is it worth a trip over there if it is not your host resort?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi! I'm fairly certain that the top three on your list are available at Fort Wilderness- not WL. I did see the watermice and bikes at WL, though. Personally, I love touring other resorts. I rarely find the time, but I love it when I do!

I've stayed at WL twice and both times we REALLY enjoyed walking around and checking things out.

We rented a boat from here (both times) and it was really one of the highlights of the trip being able to see not only WL from the water (really neat when the geyser is going off!), but the other resorts, and MK.

You can also go to guest services in the lobby and ask for a Hidden Mickey Clue List. There are 10 questions that lead to towards hidden Mickeys, a great way to have something to do while exploring the resort.

They also used to have a Lady Bug release, I'm not sure if they still do it or when it is.

The campfire/sing along, carriage ride and hay ride are at Fort Wilderness not WL. At both WL and Fort Wilderness you can rent bikes and boats. You can tour the lodge at WL. Fort Wilderness also has a petting area.
