Need some help from my fellow Diser’s. Thinking of booking a Wilderness Lodge standard view for our next trip. We usually stay in garden views at Moderates so this will be a first for us having a standard view at a Delux. How were the views for you for these rooms.? I know they face parking lots and such, but did that really detract from your stay? All input appreciated.

Have you looked at WL thread here?

I believe that they changed a lot of the rooms’ view categories after the recent construction. Both times I stayed there, I was able to book only woodsview which you would think was a step up from standard, but the view was pretty bad in both rooms I had.

One time we were overlooking a dumpster; next time, it was a filthy looking, scum filled pond.

I think that many of the woodsview rooms are now standard, and that’s an improvement. At least your expectations aren’t as high when you’re paying for standard.

I would request "Fireworks View" and "Upper Floor". If those requests are granted, it's spectacular!

Yeah, ask on the WL thread if you don’t get much here. Standard View rooms face towards the MK and cabins on that side of the resort. Some of the upper floor rooms have GREAT views looking towards MK and CR. If you’re in the right spot you can even have a pretty decent fireworks view. Some parts of the floor are going to be more woodsy and some are kind of close to the back service area, I believe.

Standard View was formerly “Woods View” but they changed the name when the DVC cabins were being built (and to date that label has not been re-introduced).

The folks on the WL thead can help with the specifics.

Good luck!

Thanks GADisneyDad for recommending the Wilderness Lodge thread. I’m going to plow through that sucker and see if I can find an answer.

Worth noting, even when we had a view at WL that overlooked the dumpsters and service areas it didn't detract from our stay. We had the same overall trip experience as when we had a room with view of MK and fireworks. Honestly, who cares what we saw when looking down? We were at Disney World. The experience outside our room didn't change based on what we saw when we looked down from our balcony.

Maybe we are unique that when we book a resort we book for what the resort offers not the view out of our room. This is an important thought to keep in mind since you can't control where the room is when you get your room. You have to adapt and make do with what you get. Best to go in to it with the right mindset to avoid disappointment.
