Greetings all! I posted this on the gigantic WL thread but have a feeling it might get lost in there.

So after numerous trips, all previously at PoP Century, I now have 11 nights at the WL August 25-Sept 5! I am beyond excited as I've always wanted to stay here. So, I have a Courtyard View reserved but need to know what exactly I should request to attempt to get the best room possible. I know that I don't want a room facing the Villas. Other than that, my research takes me in all different directions. Do I want a 5th floor inner courtyard room? I need help knowing exactly what I should request.

You won't have to worry about being on the villas side since you booked courtyard view. Your room will overlook the interior courtyard area. Things you can request vary... you could say "high floor" or "near elevator" or north wing versus south wing, really it depends on what you like. :) The resort is compact so I don't think there's a bad room. Even if you get the far end of the wing it can be really convenient for popping down to the boat dock. Have a great trip!!!

I think OP means a villa-facing room. There are a big number of courtyard view category rooms that face the villa courtyard. I don't want that either so I understand.

Request inner courtyard to avoid a courtyard room view of the Villas pool area.

imthegoose, I hope you don't mind me adding onto your post. I too have a courtyard view booked but my question to you since you plan on making a request is...when and how do you make a request for say inner courtyard?

You have to call to make the "inner courtyard" request. Online check-in will let you request a certain floor, but not inner courtyard. Also, anything you request with online check-in will trump all other requests. So if you call in a request, make sure you don't later do a request during online check-in. The less you request, the more likely you are to receive what you want. I kept it simple and just requested inner courtyard.

Thank you for the response and the tip. I've never made a request before and will definitely make sure inner courtyard is the only one I ask for.

I would go to touring plans and check out their room view photos. If you are a member, they will even take care of faxing the exact room numbers that you would like to Disney. There are reports of great success with that. Enjoy the WL!

We've stayed at WL several times. It is a great resort. You won't get lost in there! Because everything is in one building it is much more compact and easy to navigate than some of the other resorts. The only courtyard room we did not really care for was the one near the elevators which was near or above the table area outside of the Roarin Forks. If I remember right we were on the 3rd floor so pretty low down. It was very loud inside that room. You could hear people being loud sitting at the tables and walking the path to and from the boat to MK very early into the morning (the pre-park breakfast crew) and well into the night. We get up and get to the parks at rope drop and we were still woken up before we usually would get up by people outside pretty much every day. Also, the nights MK was open until midnight, you would hear people coming back up the path until after 1:00 a.m., and some of them were very loud. There were also groups that would stop in the early morning or late night and just sit at those tables a while to talk. You also could pretty much hear people down there at the tables all day long. I would stay away from rooms in that area, especially on lower floors. Other than that (and the one time we had a standard room that was over the service area), we have always enjoyed our room views and have never had any noise issues.

What number do you call?
Thanks

Yes what number? Thanks!

Also, if you call them, do you still need to do online check-in? Or just show up and check-in?

The 6th floor has closed balconies (in most of the rooms), which some people don't like. So, if you want an open balcony and a higher floor -- for better views and less noise -- make sure to specify a high floor with open balcony.

I also recommend looking at the room views on Touring Plans. You can do it for free if you're not a member, but it can definitely help you narrow down what view you like best.

I'm not sure what the number is. I made my room original room request through Dreams Unlimited. Then I did online check-in and requested something I didn't want, and I found out that online check-in requests trump other requests, but I couldn't unselect the things I selected when I did online check-in. I called a help number for either online check-in or MDE, not sure which, and they gave me the number to the wilderness lodge to fix my request back to the original inner courtyard. I'm sure if you check out the WL thread the number is one the first page over there.

Also, FYI, we were on the second floor in one of the wings, close to the main lobby, but that was actually a ground floor room. because you have to go down to the actual first floor. I was a little disappointed by that because our courtyard view was kinda non-existent since we were on the ground floor, but my kids liked it. And it was actually a great location. Close to the busses and main lobby, and a nice walk through the courtyard to the boat launch.
