Just back from Wilderness Lodge Oct 23-28

Room 2112 Woods View

The second floor is actually the entrance/lobby level.

Our room was average hotel size with (2) queen size beds with very firm mattresses. Patio opened to a wooded yard area with 2 chairs and a small outside patio table. Notice in room about mosquitos and encephalitis.

Lobby and grounds beautiful. Did not use any of the amenties such as pool.

Bus transportation was fantastic; ran every 20 minutues and we would just plan our time and walk on. Crowed only one ride.

Hated the boat; always slow, late and crowded.

Take the bus! Esp. to the Ticket center. No one ever rode that bus.

Towel animals:Pinkbounc

Gorilla (which came home with me) Awesome likeness!
Snake (we left in room---very large cobra)
dog (I left with a note to adopt him out to another family)

Liked the lodge but, I think would be great with kids, but as 2 romantic adults we like Port Orleans, French quarters best!!!!

Thanks for posting your review! We stayed at WL for the first time in May. We loved staying there, but the rooms were not that great, in my opinion. Your comment about the very firm mattresses reaffirms my own opinion--those were the hardest hotel beds I have ever slept on! That being said, I love WL and will stay there again. The incredible lobby and the grounds, the boat over to MK are so wonderful I can't wait to go back!

I am so sorry you didn't get to "really" enjoy my Home!!
Give it another chance...maybe stop over on the Phoenix WL thread and get suggestions like better room views and secrets of the WL.
As you can see below, I have been to many resorts, but the WL is my favorite!!

 Hi! Stayed at the lodge last November and it was the best time we ever had. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc I would not want to stay anywhere elese now. We are planning to go back next April, but we would love to go back again during the holidays. The decorations are just breathtaking! :teeth: I wish the rooms were a little bigger, but we didn't mind the beds. How did you like the Roaring Forks? I thought it could have been bigger (like at the All Star). Of course there is the Whispering Canyon. Did you eat there?

We stayed at WL for the first time back in May. We weren't that impressed. However, the grounds and the theming was breathtaking. But, didn't really like the small, dark room. And, we didn't think the service was as good as our usual resort, and the one we'll stay at from here on out, YC/BC. The pool was small, but then again I'm comparing to Stormalong Bay. I agree with you - I think if we had kids it would be better - but we find the Epcot Resort area to be more suitable for us.

LOVE ARTIST POINTE! I must say it's my favorite restaurant on property.

I just got back myself Oct. 19-26

I took my 3 yr old nephew and we both loved it , we were in room 7048 . Great view of the fireworks at night!

Wishing all a Tagged night

I just got back also after 6 nights at the lodge. We were in 4031, very nice room but some of the courtyard was blocked by trees. Great towel animals, a dog and a bat hanging from the light (we almost took him home :teeth:

As two romantic adults I would have suggested the King bed room. When Dw and I took our honeymoon there, we had the King room on the first floor. We could walk out our balcony/patio right to the pool. Did not have to go through the lodge to get to pool. We also had the roll in shower which was very large, perfect for "Romantic" couples.;)

For us, WL is the only place. Had it been available this Christmas, we would be staying there again, but it was booked. Had to settle for the Poly.

We, too, just got back. We were in 5015, great courtyard view. We could see the pool, the lobby doors, Roaring Forks, and the lagoon. I agree that the boat service was really slow! Does anyone know why that one boat driver wears sunglasses at 11:00 at night? He was more worried about talking among the other drivers than getting us out of the MK. That really bothered me. Other than that, the bus service was great! The room was good; we did have a lot of ants, but they sent someone up to take care of that. I loved the snack bar, and the convenience of everything being in one building. You just can't beat the atmosphere of WL, but for transportation sake, I think we will stick with the monorail resorts.

:bounce:

This summer we split our stay between the Swan and the WL.
Unfortunately, we were at the Swan first. Coming from the Heavenly Beds at the Swan, I nearly burst into tears at the VERY hard bed at the WL. Should have done it the other way round. However, the WL was really a beautiful resort. The boat was really slow and took much longer to get back and forth to the MK than I thought, but it was relaxing on a hot summer afternoon.

Beds are like everything in life, I prefer a harder mattress, so I had no complaints there. As far as transportation goes, my take is we have to hurry and walk to a set schedule all year. I relax and go with the flow, MK or any other park will still be there when I arrive. It's vacation, so I let the nerves have a break as well.

During our July trip, DD, DGD & I went down to the dock and ask the CM if she cared if we just rode along. We told her if it gets crowded we would get off. We went around the WL-FW-CR three times and had a blast. She shared a lot on WDW information with us, showed how to spot the WL Bear at night. There was a very beautiful sunset.

Laugh when you can sez I

Stayed at WL this past Sept. upgraded from standard view to Courtyard view. Love the WL and will be returning in 15 days...I never have thought that the Boat to and from MK was to slow, but not sure what everyone else is comparing the trip too..I know they switch schedules during the day from in the morings boats go to FT. Wilderness-WL-MK so if you left MK and had to ride to Campground then-to WL it takes longer then if you left in the afternoon, when it switches to MK-WL-Campground.

I've been back a week from my trip to the Wilderness Lodge and I miss it.

It was a wonderful hotel.

The bus transportation was awesome, no waits, no crowds. I don't know what all these people are always complaining about.

The boats were more of a crap shoot. They were always either late or heading in the opposite direction that I was or loaded from FW and there was no room for the WL people.

I don't get the dark room deal either. My room was so bright. I was in room 1019, King Bed & lights all over the place. Even with the drapes drawn it was like daytime in there. And the lights in bathroom were so bright, you got quite a shock when you went in there in the middle of the night.

I loved this palce so much I have already made a reservation to return in May. :p

I like firm beds, maybe that is why I loved ours??

Mad4Mickey - I just DIED laughing at your tag...my DH is a BC in the fire department and this just really cracked me up!!
:firefight

:p on giving the nerves a break on vacation. I like that attitude of "go with the flow". I'm going to remember that on my next trip.! :sunny:

:earsgirl: And Dznyntnh, I agree with you, I love the Wilderness Lodge and everything about it!!!
