Hi everyone,

Just bought into the DVC at Wilderness Lodge!!:pinkbounc
And had a few questions about the area (we ate dinner there last year but really didn't wander around)

1 How do you get to the parks from the WL?? (I know boat and bus, can you walk to MK??)
2 Are the room setups similiar to Boardwalk or OKW??
3 Best route for driving in (Can I get through security booth on Vista Blvd)

thanx:jester:

Welcome to Wilderness.

1. Its not a super long distance to MK but it is extremly walking unfriendly, with no sidewalks or shoulders and lots of traffic.

2. Room sizes and setups are most like BWV except there are no Grand Villa's available.

3. The right 2 lanes of the "toll booth" will let you through.

Enjoy!

Welcome Home, our home resort is OKW but are going to the VWL in Nov. I can't wait. Enjoy the Magic

We toured VWL in March and found them to be a bit larger than BW, but the same basic layout with a few modifications. The rooms seem very cutup and lots of wasted space, but they are decorated nicely. We would stay there before going back to BW. (We own at OKW)

Transportation might be a nightmare. Not sure if it has changed but it use to share some buses with FW, and you might have to transfer buses at the TTC to get where you want to go. It use to be that there were few direct routes from WL to most of the parks, but this might have changed.

Welcome Home and enjoy your DVC.

You take the boat to MK, the Contemporary or Fort Wilderness. You take buses to Epcot, MGM and Animal Kingdom. You share at least some of those buses with Grand Floridian and Poynesian. I don't remember if you can take a bus directly to Downtown Disney or the water parks. We had no trouble with transporation on our trips there (9/1999 and 10/2000).

Downtown Disney still doesn't have a direct bus before 4pm from WL; you have to catch a bus to the TTC and transfer there. After 4, it's a direct bus. Since DD shares buses with Typhoon Lagoon, you need to do the same thing to get there. Blizzard Beach shares its bus with Animal Kingdom park, so you can catch that one from WL.

Welcome home.

I just purchased an add-on at VWL and I'm waiting to close. I'm going to be down at WDW after Christmas and I originally had 6 nights at OKW. I just added 4 more nights at VWL. Can't wait!! Might change it to 5 and 5 before I get there.

Well, if you were Jesus, you could walk on water to the MK. lol, sorry for the reference. honestly, you can take the launch right from WL to MK, and that is nice if you have little ones. If you time it right, you walk down to the dock, walk on to the boat and 10 mins later are walking off at MK.

You'll love VWL, we were there in March, and it's just beautiful.

from VWL and OKW. We absolutely loved the VWL. We found the rooms ( studio) to be beautiful and loved everything about the resort. The transportation was never a problem at VWL. Although I do not think you could walk to MK. There are 3 bus stops at WL ( all together) which go direct everywhere accept DD before 4PM.

The rooms at VWL aren't any larger than BWV... they are exactly the same size. That's why they were able to gut the models at the sales center and just decorate them in the colors, fabrics and finishes of the VWL.

I disagree that space is badly utilized in the DVC villas in BWV and VWL ... one of the nicest things about the studios there (over the studios at OKW) is that there is actually a vestibule area, which means you don't stumble right into the "bedroom" area. I really appreciated this when I was laying aroudn in my pajamas and someone came to the door. My husband answered it and I didn't feel like they were being intrusive into my space. It makes it feel a bit less like a hotel room and a bit more like a real, private, studio space. I guess the architect in me really enjoys having a sequence of spaces vs. one big room. ;) Likewise, I find the 1br setups to be an extremely efficient use of the space available at BWV and VWL and, for just myself and my husband, found there to be way more "wasted space" at OKW. Just my not-so-humble opinion.

There are some minor improvements in space-usage in the VWL units. Most notably is the separate closet for the toilet itself.
