Wilderness Lodge Photo Thread- Please feed my addiction!!

omg :scared1:

I kind of wondered if that is how you got that shot. :worship:

Dory will just enjoy looking at yours and never plan to try to get that photo of her own.

Just thinking about it I have to find a happy place...find a happy place. I'm such a big chicken!

Thanks for sharing it with us.
I love height so parasailing doesn't bother me. To be honest, it is relatively safe to parasail at WDW. It's probably the best view to see WDW. You get to see every single park all in one shot. You do have to sign a wavier before leaving the dock in case of accident. Don't be a chicken. Just do it and enjoy the view. You will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

The only other time I ran into trouble from parasailing was when I did it at Aruba year and a half ago. I barely reach the top and the boat die. The chute and I fell into the ocean. Luckily, I come down slowly so it's not a free fall. My camera did even get wet. However, I was about 500 feet away from the beach and who know what is swimming under my feet. If there were any sharks at all, I would be doomed.

This is when I was up there.

What an awesome view from up there.:cool1: DW and I were actually planning to do this on our last trip, but opted for the Ice at Gaylord Palms and the Segway tour at Epcot. We still have the parasailing on our list for furture new things to do.
What is Ice at Gaylord Palms? Now I have to find out because I will be going back to WL next month.

Parasailing has the best view of WDW IMO. The only quirky part is the boat can only circle around at certain area of the lagoon. It does not go in front of WL. Therefore, you can only get the sideview of WL.

Here is a great view of the EPCOT globe.

topdog that sounds awesome! I would love to try that but I think my DH would have a heartattack. He doesn't have the same sense of adventure and fun that I do. I haven't had a chance to check out your site yet, but plan on it soon.

To all that have posted pictures on this thread THANK YOU! I love the LODGE. I have had the pleasure of staying there on both my trips. I miss this place like you can't imagine. Most days it is helpful to look at all the beautiful pictures, on occassion it is torture! I hope the pictures keep coming.

You definitely should try parasailing. I remember you can choose how high you want to go. Of course, I choose the highest they can allow. But then I am that crazy. Your DH probably won't get a heartattach until he sees how much it cost for parasailing. LOL... It cost $120 for 30 minutes. Then again, I had the premium package at the time, therefore all resort activities were included. It didn't cost me a penny extra. In fact, I went up there twice. It's the most breathtaking experience you can ever have. Only other activities that can come close is skydiving.

If you do visit my site, click the "Back to Main Index" and it will show more Disney pictures. I am going back to WL next month planning to shoot a lot more pictures. I might post them on a different site. So stay tune...

Wow, pics are really wonderful. I'm looking forward to stay here in our next trip.:rotfl:

Have a nice day everyone. :)

Those parasailing pictures are great! These aren't quite as dramatic, I'm afraid, but here are some shots I took at dawn during our trip in late December.

Dawn is my favorite time in WDW. I am not a morning person either but it is just so beautiful and peaceful. That first picture just brought that back to me. Great pics, thanks! We leave in 17 days for our first stay at WL. :yay:

It is a Holiday event at the Gaylord Palms :cool1: Or Should I say COLD:rotfl2:(It is kept at 9 degrees to protect the ice sculptures) Here is a link to photos from this years exhibit. It is just outside WDW.

Looks like another beautiful day dawning in our favorite place in WDW. The WL always feels like home.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Especially this one. It shows how high the Geyser is actually erupting. A viewpoint tough to capture from ground level.:thumbsup2

Thanks DizneyNutz! That means a lot coming from you. I think your pictures of the WL are the most beautiful I've seen. :goodvibes

It was so great to go out on the balcony and see the Geyser erupting. When we went in 2006 the lobby bridge and stream were closed off for refurbishment and the geyser wasn't going. We were so surprised to get into our room and when my DD pulled back the curtains, she yelled "Mommy the geyser is going off!" I'll never forget that and watching the Electrical Water Pageant from our balcony. We made such special memories. :cloud9:

topdog I checked out your website and looked at all the pictures. You have so many of the lodge from different angels. I loved trying to figure out where you were at. I have so many places to explore there yet!

mechtech the sunrise pictures were beautiful. There is nothing like the quiet first rays of sun at the lodge. I always relished those moments when the sun began to shine through the curtains and the rest of the family was sleeping.

DisneyNutz your photos were enjoyable as well. It is a bummer that you don't have any more left to post!

That is such an undeserved compliment. Everyone's photos are what keeps threads like this one alive.:thumbsup2 I always find myself in the same locations trying to capture a better photo than I have before, but the greatness in this thread is the viewpoints of different observers, such as yourself with the shot of :"Ole Faithful" erupting from a different vantage point.:cool1: Everyone keep shooting and most importantly keep sharing your photos for all of us to live vicariously through your experiences.:cool1: and we all LOVE the WL:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I have captured this shot many times, but never at sunrise. Your picture adds a feeling of calm and serenity! :thumbsup2 Thank you for posting.:cool1:

I have just enjoyed looking through this wonderful thread of pics! Thank you all.
Is it my imagination, but has Disney cut back on the decorations of the lobby at WL? It seemed as though the first pics posted here at the beginning of the thread during the Christmas holiday had tons of garland draped on every floor in the lobby? These last pics show the garland only draped across one floor?

Anyone who has gone there every Christmas, what is your feeling?

mechteach, I think your picture looks great. I only wish I was there at Christmas time to see the festive side of Disney. Last time I was at Disney during Christmas was 1977. WL was even on the drawing board. LOL...

I have a lot of pictures from inside the lodge too. However, I got tired after I process so many of the outside pictures. I also have a few of the villa building plus the Walt Disney museum room. Maybe I need some motivation to process and post them.

BTW, I take it everyone here took the WL tour presented by Ranger Stan.

Although I have no pictures, I would like to subscribe to this thread. We are staying at WL for the first time in June. We are very excited.

Thank you to all for the wonderful pictures.

Just waiting for the snow.popcorn::

I looked back at my 06, 07 & this years 08 pictures and they all are decorated the same with the exception of the tree. They do change the tree around some years. In 2006 it was on a base about 6 feet off the floor. My older photos are not on this computer, but if I think about it, I will check them sometime, but I believe they are the same also.:thumbsup2 Not a good picture, but here it is in 06.
