All of the great WL reviews from this board have convinced me to stay there during my upcoming trip in February. This is the one resort that there's virtually no negative feedback on. It's sounds almost too good to be true. To all of you that have stayed at WL, what are the things that you DON'T like about it. Thanks.

I have heard some complaints regarding housekeeping, although that was never an issue when we were there. Our room was always spotless!

Roaring Fork, the counter service restaurant, is a little small, but we didn't eat there much, so it was not an issue for us, either.

The atmosphere of the lodge is incredible, and I highly recommend it!!

I'm right with you on this one. I'm glad you asked :) . This will be our first time also. :surfweb:

We stayed there for a few nights back in September and LOVED it! No complaints at all! :cool1:

Well, lets see...

Roaring Forks is a little small...however, it was never crowded.

Rooms on the MK side of the lodge also overlook a loading dock area.

These two things were very minor to me, I can't think of any other negatives about this resort. Can't wait to stay there again!

I am also staying there at the WL in 9 days everything i have read about that resort is sooooo good. There will be 7 of us there too which includes 2 kids one 7 and one 8...:cool1:  :goodvibes

Jeepers, I was having a hard time trying to think of something negative. We loved it there. The only thing I can think of is that we were never able to find chairs around the pool for afternoon swims. We went down there every day for six days and never once were able to sit by the pool or lay our stuff on a chair as all the chairs had towels on them. Makes me wonder about pool hoppers. Maybe the guards could collect towels every so often to free up some chairs?

You had to scoop up chairs as soon as someone left. It was like fighting for a parking space... lol. We were able to find a table with chairs to set our things down on, but the table was hidden behind rocks and you could not see the table from the pool, so that was a bit annoying, not having your stuff in full view, and having to get out of the pool to talk to a family member who was sitting at the hidden table. We learned to take as little as possible down to the pool and hope for the best.

Oh, and be aware that the concrete around the pool is HOT HOT HOT during those walks from the pool to the hidden table! Even though that sure is not exclusive to WL and no big deal, just thought I'd mention it for the little ones. ;)

Other than that, and we found this lack of unused chairs problem at most resorts, WL is our new favorite. I miss it.

Edited to add we were there the first week of Aug 2006. Buses were not a problem, only once waiting 1 hour at AKL to get back to WL. We took launch to MK a couple times , but took the bus thereafter as we found it faster.

We stayed at the WL in April 2004 and have not been back since. We loved our junior suite, but we felt the pool was very small and we could hear alot of noise from our room. We also had some experiences with some not-so-nice CM's there (ie: the CM who you rent the life jackets from, the CM at the gift shop) I don't know, I'm sure they were just having a bad day, everyone does. I do not like to bash Disney resorts, and I certainly do not want to be flamed-WL is loved by many, and I know if I saw a post of someone bashing my beloved POR, I would just:sad2: ......but WL wasn't our thing I guess. I would, however most likely give them another chance if I got a really good rate:rotfl:

Although the resort was beautiful and the CM's (including Lodgekeeping) were fantastic, I don't think we'll stay again.

We went during Spring Break. We had issues with the boat/bus transportation. It took us 2 hours for the bus after Wishes one night. It really made me miss being able to just walk back to a resort as an option instead of being forced to wait. The buses were just as crowded.

Roaring Forks is small and has a very small menu which doesn't seem to vary day to day. We like to have breakfast and either lunch or dinner at the cafeteria and if we'd stayed more than 2 days, we'd have been really bored with the selections.

I'm glad we tried it but next time we'll try one of the monorail resorts or stick with the Epcot area.

As a Wilderness Lodge veteran (I've stayed there 6 times), and I'm going again in just 10 days, there are very very few negatives about staying at this resort.

But, being requested to think of some........
The rooms are small compared to the other deluxe resorts.
Roaring Fork's menu choices should be expanded to offer more choices.
Not enough pool lounge chairs....it gets very crowded.

I have stayed at WL twice and we love it. The only down in that the transport can get a little long since we share the boat with FW. f you plan enough time you will be fine. Enjoy it is a great place!:goodvibes

Even when offered a(althought I hate to say this) a better deal, financially to stay at another resort, we still chose WL, but we have sentimental reasons, we were married there. We chose to tie the knot at WL because we fell in love withit when we stayed there the tear before.

Add me to the list of WL devotees!! I loved it when we stayed there in April...tried to book it again for a Dec. stay but there were no discounts for me.
Specifically, the staff seems excellent and friendly and the resort very welcoming. We stayed concierge and enjoyed it so much that we've booked AKL concierge for our Dec. stay. Somebody rightly said that once you stay concierge, you'll be hooked!!

We stayed at WL for the first part of our split stay last Thanksgiving. The room was nice, but not as big as the Poly. We had no complaints, but I think we are just a Poly family and after 3 nights at WL we were really looking forward to moving to our home over at the Poly. Sorry I can't think of anything that I didn't like :confused3

The WL is indeed lovely! A lovely theme, beautifully realized, in a very relaxing atmosphere. My big complaint though is transportation. Waits for boats in the a.m. were crazy and the ride to the MK took a really long time if you had to stop at FW first. Bus service was hit or miss to various locations-- several times we waited 30 min+ for a bus to turn up. Now maybe my experience was an aberration, but all I can tell you is my experience. My suggestion would be to always leave plenty of time to get where you need to be. Enjoy your stay!

:scared1: One of the reasons for our WL choice was the transportation. Now it seems it is a factor for NOT staying.

My itty bitty list:

Rooms definitely small compared to other Deluxe and some Mod's.

Hate the out doorsy theme (I'm a beach gal) BUT if you like that theme it is wonderfully deocrated.

Roaring Forks too small and not a lot of selection

Lacks a good sit down restaraunt if you don't like to be yelled at during your dinner. TOOOOO much action while eating!

Even with these few things, I will be back I am sure.

I am with the previous posters about the chairs at the pool, I believe people just put a towel down on them in the morning and leave.:pirate: Do you think it would be "bad" to watch a chair and if no one uses it for an hour to take it? Provided of course no ones personal belongings are around. That what happens at alot of the hotels we stay at, there will be towels on the chairs and we will be at the pool for 2-3 hours and no one uses the chair! What would you do? Go without a chair or take a chance and sit down?
