We became Disney Vacation members last May. We are taking a cruise 2/7 then going to the Villas at Wilderness Lodge for 4 days. We have not planned on getting a car... but would like to eat at several resturants throughout Disney, especially at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Has anyone taken the transportation system around Disney to do this? Will there be problems later in the evenings? Also, does anyone know if there are discounts for vacation club members for discounts to the parks? We'll be there 4 days.

Another question (sorry, first time) we bought transportation to the cruise from the airport and I thought the vacation club agent told me that we would also get transportation back (after the cruise) to the Wilderness Lodge. Does anyone know?

Last question... has anyone heard that Disney offers a dinning plan..such as a dine around? I thought there used to be such a plan, but I don't see it now.

Thanks.. we really do appreciate any help. :pinkbounc

Lots of questions here, let's see if we can help.

From VWL to AKL, it will probably be a pretty long trip without a car. I don't know if you will be able to get a direct bus...probably not from resort to resort. So you will have to go to the main transportation center and transfer. Unless someone knows a shorter way, you might be better off getting a cab?

Discounts for DVC members? Yes, we get 10% discount on the Unlimited Magic Pass, which is a length of stay pass for your time at VWL. You also have the option to drop the first day, last day or both from your pass in case you won't be going into the parks those days.

Yes you can get transfers from the boat back to the lodge and then you will need another service(mears, Tiffany, etc) to get back to the airport.

A couple other suggestions for resort to resort transfers from WL. You can take the boat to MK and catch ANY resort bus from there. Also can catch the monorail to ANY monorail resort. Late at night it is best to go to downtown Disney from one resort, get off the first stop and catch the bus to the resort you need. If you are going to OKW or PO you can catch the boat to these resorts. Double check this one as some have reported temp. termination of this service; otherwise just take the resort bus.

As msdis said check on the boats from DD to OKW and PO as when we were down there 7th-11th this month the boats were not going much the first few days due to the cold.

We did happen to be around the hospitality house at OKW on the Wednesday we were there and the boats were running, but the one we took from OKW to DD was the last one, because the boat pilot was freezing, and it was only 6:00pm and they are supposed to run till later. So we had to catach a bus back to OKW from DD.

So the boats do get closed on occasion.

Every time we inquired I was told that no plan was available to DVC members...Anyway, we did our math and every time we had a dining plan (pre-DVC days) we never used it completely....this time around we are just setting up a budget for dining....
