I was looking at the map of the WL and was wondering how far the courtyard view rooms would be from roaring forks. Is the lodge so large that if you stay in one building you may have a long walk to the pool or bus stop?
I have booked the ASMU for our Dec trip but my son said if we could get a good rate at the WL he would like to stay there. I have looked at the pictures and it looks beautiful, especially the xmas decorations.
I have stayed at the YC and had a looooong walk to the room after a long day and would rather not have to do that again.

Any help would be appreciated

The courtyard rooms are in a U-shape. One side of the U is closer to the Roaring Forks then the other is. If you do get ressies there just add on a request to be near the RF, I don't think you'll have a problem.

The WL won't disappoint, it's a wonderful resort. Plus with a courtyard view you can see the electric water parade at night from your balcony. Oh and the 6th floors have a closed off balcony so you have to stand up to see things. This was great for us because we had little ones but if the kids were bigger I'd have wanted the other kind. So if you want a regular see through balcony, I think the best floors are the 5th and 4th for a great view.

The furthest room in the lodge is no more than a 5 minute walk to Roaring Forks. There are courtyard view rooms right down the hall from RF, while views on the other side of the pool are only a couple of minutes away. Courtyard view rooms actually look out over the pool area. The bus stop is to the right of the main entrance as you enter the Lodge. You can reach the bus stop by using the doors to the left of the Mercantile shop and following the covered walkway. Everything is within a short easy walk.

Thank you
the more I read about the WL the more I am falling in love with it. I am tempted to change my reservations even if there are not really good rates!

The WL is an amazing resort. Quite intimate with a very different private feel to it. There is nowhere that is actually far from anywhere in the resort. In January we were in a woods view room facing the villas (on the opposite side of the U from Roaring Fork etc) and to be honest it was great for the shop and no more than a 5 minute stroll to Roaring Fork. We also tended to take the elevator down to the ground level (courtyard) and then walk across the grounds to Roaring Fork which took all of two minutes in total walking at normal speed. Also the elevators are the most efficient ones I have ever come across. I swear they are psychic. They always arrive within about 3 seconds of pressing the button (that is, if they are not already there!).

WL really has to be experienced so go preparing to love it!

do yourself a favor and get those wilderness lodge ressies right now. Drop whatever you doing and the only problem youll have is finding the time needed to thank everyone on here for telling you to go there. All rooms are close to everything. And this is one of the resorts where getting the refillable mugs is a great deal because Roaring Forks is so close to your room that at about 11:30 at night when you all of a sudden feel thirsty, you can take a quick walk to the food court, fill up, and enjoy the atmosphere of the lobby. Its awesome
