Wilderness Lodge gym closed...

I am really bummed out today. Back in February, before I booked the Wilderness Lodge, I called Disney Guest Services, the resort directly, and Disney Reservations to be sure the gym would remain open during construction, and they all assured me that while the spa would close, they would keep the gym open. An Internet search today showed me that now it will be closed July through October. I called Disney and told them about my concern and they said I can use the Contemporary's gym. I chose a resort with a gym on site, I wanted to workout really early in the AM, way before buses are even running, so my workout would not conflict with any family plans. switching to another deluxe resort is not in the budget. Kind of disappointed with Disney now, they told me today they are allowed to close anything they want at the resort and will not compensate in any way...she made that very clear to me. Sigh.....

That's in the terms and conditions of lodging, yes. You're not even guaranteed a room at the resort you book; they can change your resort if need be.

That's a bummer. How long ago did you book? It's entirely possible the gym wasn't set to be closed at that point.

At least they're letting you head to the Contemporary if you can work it out. Still a pain.

why are they closing the gym??? - it is not near the area being worked on - unless they have changed the plans. are both swimming pools closed?

It is hard to get to the gym at CR as early as he needs - you can take the boat to CR - otherwise you take the bus to the MK then walk over. You can still walk over to FW (no gym) but the walk is really nice.

in your situation may ask the front desk if Disney is providing transportation to the CR - sometimes they do.
