Anyone ever camped at Wilderness Lodge? What is it like? What are the beds like? Planning on spending a night there and don't want a stiff back all holiday!!

Are you referring to the Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness Campgrounds?

If you're asking about the Wilderness Lodge, it's a regular hotel. Actually it's considered one of Disney's deluxe resorts, although the rooms are smaller than most of the other deluxes. But in any case, the bed is wonderful just like in any deluxe hotel.

If you're asking about Fort Wilderness, it depends what you're planning on doing there. If you have a Cabin reserved, then i suppose it has a regular bed, although i've never stayed in a cabin there so i don't know.
If you're planning on bringing your own tent (as my friends and I did back in university) then "bed" is a rather inaccurate term, but I assume this isn't what you mean. And then of course there is the option of bringing your own trailer home, which i kind of doubt you'll bring from the UK.

So it must be either you're staying at the Wilderness Lodge, which as i said, is a deluxe hotel with normal beds or at a cabin in Fort Wilderness, which i assume also has normal beds.

It is the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. & I haven't booked it yet, but thought that just for one night my kids would love to stay in a tent! Do Disney provide tents? or is it bring your own only??

i don't even know if they still allow tent camping there. We did that way back in 1974.
But in any case, you had to bring your own tent then, disney did not supply them.
The only way for you to stay in Fort Wilderness without bringing your own trailer, is to reserve a cabin there. I think they hold 6 people. But doing that for only one nigth seems a bit short. The FW cabins are considered to be in the "home away from home" category of disney resorts. The cabins have a little kitchenette i think. And one bedroom with a double bed and a bunkbed....and i think a murphy bed in the living room.

people say they're nice....i've never stayed in them so i don't know...

People do "tent camp" but Disney do not provide equipment. There are a number of companies that do rent camping equipment in the area. But by the time you pay to rent all the equipment you'd need, it's not going to be much cheaper than booking a room in a value resort.

IMHO if you want a little "rustic" experience for a couple of nights booking one of the FW cabins makes a lot more sense to me, but then I'm definately not a camping lover.

i agree....and the area around the cabins is very campground like...very woodsy and rustic.....it's nice...and there's a campfire in the evening...
i would definitely go the cabin route...
