Wilderness Lodge Cabins

Couple Questions.....

We are looking at doing a couple nights in the Wilderness Cabins in early December. I am wondering some details on the actual cabins, size, space, amenities, etc.... Also, what are the free activities at the resort. I have also heard some things about a sleigh ride & other Christmas events. We are not doing any parks during this stay as we are doing these during an additional stay at the Pop. Any info is appreciated! THANKS!!

The WL doesn't have cabins. You are probably talking about the Ft. Wilderness cabins. They are great for families. They have free campfires with Chip n Dale followed by a nightly Disney movie. There is also the Electrical Water Pagent which floats by nightly by the Marina (weather permitting). Other activities are available for a fee-such as biking, renting a golf cart, fishing, etc. They also have shuffle board and tetherball areas throughout the resort.
It can be tricky to learn the transportation system that runs through the resort. We usually rent a golf cart during our stay. This allows for easier movement for our family. Some people walk, use the buses or bring/rent bikes. For me, I prefer staying in the cabins when we are staying for a long visit. If we are going for a short time, I prefer staying on the monorail or WL.
Cabins have a bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunkbeds. In the living room there is a double size murphy bed that pulls down from the wall. (A full bath and a full kitchen with a picnic table and a grill ) It comes with kitchen utensils, but not all the stuff you need ex-foil, charcoal. They have two outpost to buy supplies or you can go offsite close by downtown disney. The sleigh rides are at a cost and should be reserved (along with golf carts) ahead of time. People are serious about there vacations! Don't expect just to show up and there be availability. The decorations at the cabins are fun to see. People really go all out decorating. There is also the MVMCP occuring during your stay which is out of this world--snow on Main Street and hot chocolate and cookies for everyone! This is a special ticketed event, so plan to purchase ahead of time. It usually sells out. Have fun with what ever you decide.

This is very accurate.We have stayed here afew times and its great..

But plan ahead like the poster states.If you donn't you will miss out

What is the transportation like around the camp? We will have a car, how far is the parking?

I would recommend that you take these questions to the camping forum. There are lots of people there who have stayed in the cabins in FW (including myself). They are a friendly bunch and you are bound to find the answers to all your
questions there! While you can use your car to park at your own cabin, they discourage your using it to get around the campground. There is both an internal and external bus system.

There are "stickys' at the top of the page that will give you some basic informationa and there is even a map of the campground. You can see for yourself the "loops" where the campers would be, and where the cabin guests would be located. I would recommend a golf cart rental if you are able to swing that. They make getting around infinetly easier and they're a great way to see the campground. You will be able to take a water launch from For Wilderness to the MK, and there is bus transportation to the other parks.
