You may be confusing the two "Wilderness" resorts. There is the Wilderness Lodge, which has regular resort rooms and is all contained within one big building. It has a nice pool and several restaurants right there together. There is also Fort Wilderness, which is a campground spread out over several miles worth of property. It is a beautiful resort that has both campsites as well as cabins. Each cabin has enough room to sleep 6 people, but is (in my opinion) perfect for a family of 4-5. The cabins have a den with Murphy bed, full kitchen with full size appliances, bathroom, separate bedroom with double bed and bunkbeds, and a deck with picnic table. If your kids like exploring, FW is the place to do it. There are 2 pools (one with a fun slide), 2 game rooms, lots of playgrounds, a beach, tether ball, horse or pony rides, boats to rent, etc. (You can probably tell that I'm a big FW fan.) If you want more information about FW, check out the camping board here on the Dis. There are lots of people who can give you all sorts of info about it.
Wherever you stay, have a great trip!
