Don't laugh, but I was just thinking about our trip December 5- 9 and we have never stayed there or even been inside the building so its all new to me. I know how the Poly bellservices works but what about at the WL. At the Poly they drive you to your longhouse but what happens at the WL when you drive up, does the same person who unloads you stay with you until you check in or do they just load it on a cart and you take it yourself?

You can pull up and use valet parking. The person that unloads your bags may not be the same one that brings the bags to your room.

You also have the option of self parking and unloading your car yourself.

Does this help?

I suppose you could also pull up, have somone unload your luggage and then park your car yourself. In fact, I believe this is what we did last year.

Hope this helps.

Ok, do they take it to your room like at the Poly or do you do that or is it an option? Because at the Poly it does not seem like you have a choice. They drive you there period.

Yes, I believe that you have to have them take it to your room or take it there yourself. I'm not sure they will load it onto a cart and let you take it to your room on your own.

The one time we unloaded it ourselves, we just walked our suitcases to our room.

Thanks, We are not staying that long this time so our luggage will not be that much, and If I have one of those Rolling carts I can just unload and take it myself after I check in. This tipping thing got out of hand last time at the Poly. Tip to unload, tip the guy who stored it becasue our room was not ready and it was a different guy who unloaded it, tip for the guy who brings it to our room, tip the guy who unloads it back into our car. Wow, it added up because I believe in tipping well for services.

They will not let you take the bird cage (rolling cart) yourself. If you need assistance they will provide it for you. You are more than welcome to carry your luggage to your room yourself, but if you need the cart then you will have to have bellman assitance.

As far as tipping they only one that you would be expected to tip is the person that physically takes the luggage to your room and the person that physically picks it up when you are checking out. All the in between guys are at your discrection and not expecting a tip. Most of the time at WL the person that is unloading your car is the Valet, not a bellman anyway, so unless you are valeting the car there is no need to tip them.

Thanks everyone ! Planning fun sure is hard work. I think I understand now. I did not know there was a difference between Valet guys and the bell services guys. :scratchin

If you do the self park it's quite a haul from the entrance to your car! We did that and found out quickly that we didn't need every last thing that we packed. It's also up hill from th elot to the lobby, with a set of steps to conquer or a steep hill. Discovered that I needed a new wheeled carryon after that trip. My big suitcase was a bit of a dinosaur, I'd had it for ~20 years. One of those things that you use rarely but this trip included the MNSSHP and a split resort stay so I brought it. It was the old kind that had the wheels on the bottom instead of the end and a strap instead of the pull out handle. DH said don't worry I'l bring my folding luggage handtruck, big mistake! Tha thing folded alright, right in the middle of his trek to the hotel at 10PM. Not a happy camper at all. I just invested in a new 29" carryon and resigned the dino to the attic.
