Wow ... 3 days!!!! I literally am too excited to sleep! :)

I just got on to see the different programs for each day. I got super excited when I saw the Wilderness Explorer Ceremony ... we are huge UP fans and I didn't realize they had characters in the parks!

I am just wondering if anybody has done it. Will my almost 3 year old enjoy it? I'd really love to meet Russell and Dug. Are they at every one? Do they do meet and greet and pics?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm getting VERY excited over here!

We are super excited about this too. From what I understand the ceremony is offered at different times during the day. The only information I have is what is listed in the unofficial tour guide but I'd love to hear more about it. I think my 5 year old might have this be his favorite thing the whole trip. He loves to be active!!

When we have done the ceremony, both Dug and Russell were there. We were able to take photos with them after it was over.

If you are UP fans then you gotta do the Wilderness Explorer Ceremony. There are laughs and lost of audience participation. Great for kids of all ages I would say and worth the time. The CMs who run it are super enthusiastic. (Kevin from UP plays a special guest role). Seating is in the shade. All in all a fun little show.

My kids loved the whole Redwood play area. They did the the Wilderness Explorer Ceremony, and there was a meet and greet afterwards. It's kind of a secluded area so there wasn't a crowd. There was a special meet and greet only for those who had attended the ceremony. Then the other character was available a little farther down the trail for anyone who happened to come in. My kids enjoyed it.

Russell is always there as he is part of the ceremony but Dug is more random, more likely on higher crowd days. I think the ceremonies are roughly every hour/ hour and a half. They should be in the times guide and there is always a cm posted at the entrance to the area you can ask. Off the top of my head last time I was there, it was something like 11, 12:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30. I know they had a bigger gap over lunch. Definitely check the time guide though. Usually it works out if you ask as you go in and if it's not soon, by the time you're done in the area there will be one. They make announcement starting about 20 minutes before that there will be one. It's a really nice place to sit in the shade and there's a slide area for little ones at the very back
