Will be visitng for potentially the last time without children this upcoming December, was wondering if anyone has recently done the Wild Trek tour of AK or has advice to know if this special extra is worth it?
Arrive late Friday and leave mid afternoon following Friday, will have park hopper passes and MVMCap scheduled in case any of that matters.

My husband, sister, brother-in-law and I have done the Wild Africa Trek twice. We enjoyed being out in the "wild" with great animal viewing. We loved the food snack in the open building on the safari. You do have to a cross a short rope bridge, but you are "clipped in" for safety. You also get "clipped in" to lean over a small cliff and watch the crocodiles. We went first thing in the morning so it wasn't too hot when we went. Definitely worth it for us.

My husband and I did it a few weeks ago, and I was really excited about it based on all the positive reviews I read here but was ultimately a little underwhelmed. I definitely enjoyed it, but there was a lot less hiking and fewer "behind the scenes" special things to see than I expected.

Thank you both of you, I just wasn't sure for the price tag as well as the 3 hour commitment if riding the regular safari, Pandora, and the rest of AK since our trip this December is rather short.

We did it last week and really enjoyed it. It was nice to have a way to see a lot of the animals up close and at a slower pace than the regular attraction.

Just did the tour in may. I had always wanted to take the tour, but resisted because of the high price tag. I visit Disney a lot - about 4 weeks per year and this tour was one of the best things I have ever experienced in Disney.

My 21 year old son and I took the 2:30 tour. We loved every part of it, especially the private tour of the Savannah and the African snacks in the private building overlooking the Savannah. We thought the 2:30 tour would be too hot, but it was fine. Most of the hiking is shaded and the private tour is on a truck with a roof.

You only have a group of 12 or so, so there is interaction with the other members of your group. We also loved our tour guides. If you can swing it, I would highly recommend it :). I know I will be doing it again!

We did it in April and really, really enjoyed it. It's a different thing to do and honestly, that rope bridge surprised us both. It's kinda long with large spaces in between the boards and there are crocodiles underneath. And it's up high. If someone has a fear of heights, it could be a serious challenge. The guide said they had had guests freeze midway and not be able to move. yes, you are strapped to a rope above and yes, there is netting below, but the mind can play tricks and you'll feel you accomplished something once you are done. I would recommend it.

We both saw pictures and looked forward to this, we just weren't sure if 1 day in AK would be able to accommodate this adventure as well as Pandora, or if a 2nd full or half day would be needed to finish the rest of the park.
Everything sounds so positive and we are thinking that december brings a bit cooler temperature so animals may be more active or viewable then middle of the day in the summer.

We've taken the tour twice, and I would gladly sign up for a third. It's the best "extra" I've experienced at WDW, and it's worth every penny (especially if you're eligible for a discount).

It's fantastic! Even my Disney-disliking husband loved it, and would happily do it again. The guides take wonderful photos, too (included with the tour).

Do the reservations fill up fast for this that I should call as soon as we decide we're doing this? Is any time better than others?
Saturday Dec 9th has AM EMH
I currently have 7:30 or 10:15 Boma and 5:55 Tusker reservations.
Any recommendations is appreciated.

We're considering it for our January trip, but I'm not sure how "exciting" it looks. Is it just like walking the animal trails at a local zoo?

My college aged daughter and I did it, and still talk about how wonderful it was. If you love animals, it's a special experience. I would say it's low on "thrills" but a very unique and enjoyable time.

We have done it twice. It is one of our favorite add ons. Had great viewings of the animals. We enjoyed the food. Guides were informative and very friendly both times. I'm a huge giraffe fan so I was in my happy place because we saw them very close when we were eating. Would definitely recommend it.

What discounts are eligible, I didn't see anything on the website?

Sometimes there are discounts for Disney Visa, AP, etc. There might be discounts for certain times during the day or certain seasons. It doesn't hurt to ask! We received a seasonal discount for our first tour and a Disney Visa discount for the second. Good luck!

I keep going back and forth on this for my birthday trip.
Last year I did Savor the Savanna and just adored it.
I am tempted to do it again. DH thinks we should do Wild Africa Trek instead
I guess I need to compare more about what the 2 offer and where they differ
I think Savor has a better meal with more time for you to sit on the savanna and observe on your own, while you eat and drink and Trek is more time doing stuff. At least that's what I've picked up on the surface

We did it in February 2014, and it was a highlight of that trip.
