If yes can you tell me more about your experience and if you felt the cost was worth it. I think I'd love it, but not sure if my 13-year-old son would be engaged the whole time or be upset we weren't in the pool or on rides. He does love animals, but curious how interactive it is. Thanks!

Was fun for us. The snack meal was later in the day though if you go afternoon. Really screwed up our dinner plans.

I think if he loves animals he would really like it. In the past they have had a discount for afternoon tours in the summer if that helps the price be a bit more palatable. In my experience the CMs are great at engaging curious kids. And they can ask lots of questions, and maybe even suggest some favorite animals for the safari portion of the ride to linger at.

And you can't beat crossing rope bridges over crocodiles!

We thought it was great. The first part they take you to the hippos and the crocodiles while they describe how they take care of them and they fed them while we were there. Then you get to do the walk over the rope bridge (you're on a harness - looks dangerous but is not) over the crocs. DH has a great picture he took in the middle of the bridge of the crocs below them. Then they put you on a truck with a couple of CMs who work with the animals in some way (on our tour one was a recent Master's graduate in zoology and one was a recent Biology graduate) and who are very knowledgeable. You can ask lots of questions. They drive through the Kilimanjaro Safari area but pull off to the side in various locations where you can get much better views of the animals than you usually get on the safari and they'll sit there for a period of time. Then they take you to a central location for snack/lunch that's in the middle of the savannah and there are binoculars that you can use to watch the animals.

Only you can determine if your son will be engaged or not but if he likes animals I think he would be very interested. The groups are small enough that there is a lot of opportunity to ask questions and have a good conversation with people who know what they're talking about. You also get a really good vantage point to look at the animals and not just get a passing view.

I loved it. I have done it twice now and will book a third tour for October. I am a huge animal fan and it was so cool to be a little bit more up close and personal. Also the tour part in the truck is way cooler than the safari. Granted we did the Safari first thing in the morning and then did the last tour of the day both times. I would recommend it if he likes animals.
