FI & I have one. We have 1 control that we share. I’d be wary of knock off controllers, they never last. It is always better to have two that people can share but not necessary.

Never used the sports pack. I think my mom is getting them for FI for Xmas but honestly, they aren’t necessary either. I personally don’t want FI and his friends swinging a baseball bat (even a plastic one) near my TV. Lol.

Wii Sports comes with the Wii but Wii Sports Resort is like an add on you can buy with a ton of other fun sports games. That would be awesome for a family. I like the archery portion of it the best.

Anything involving Lego (Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones) are very fun. Mild Lego violence, but that’s the worst of it.

Mario Kart is fun.

There are numerous singing/music games and dancing games – Dance Dance Revolution, Karaoke type games.

Some of the most fun games we have we got with Wii points and downloaded right onto the system. There are a lot of inexpensive puzzle type games. It’s definitely worth picking up some points.

what you get in the box is a good start. Depending on what games you get, you may need to pick up some accessories.

Had our Wii for about two years and still play it frequently. And even though we have purchased other games, its funny how we keep coming back to Wii Sports.

We have two controllers/nunchucks. We also got the charger base right off the bat. We do have a pair of wheels, but only because we have Mario Kart and Speed Racer. The Sports pack may add a bit more heft to a Wiimote, but they are not needed to play golf, tennis, etc.

The other recommendation I might make - especially if you have more consoles than just the Wii - is Gamefly. Think Netflix for videogames. With games running as much as $50, I'd rather try before I buy. We have the 'one out at a time plan'. It is more valuable if you have multiple consoles, but even for the Wii, its better to rent a game and find out its a clunker than to sink serious dollars into a game that won't be played down the line. We have the Wii, a PS2, and a DS that all benefit from the Gamefly membership.
