Wii -- Is there some sort of "everything you need to know" thread?

I assume there must be -- I just couldn't find it. If not, could someone start one, 'cause I need to buy one and I know nothing!

A few years ago there was the same type of thread for Nintendo DS Lite, and it really saved me!

Please, somebody take pity on this technology-challenged parent!
