Wii Fit?

Hi to the OP. I got the Wii Fit for Christmas and I really like it. The pros for me are this:
It's just fun and something different. It gives you a big variety of things to do..some days I just feel like doing the yoga, others I want to do all the aerobics and some days I mix it up.
The cons for me on it are this:
I don't like that you can't set it to keep going..after you finish something you have to go through all the clicking to go to something else . I like to keep moving so a lot of times, I'll do the adv. step and then keep clicking retry at the end. I also add things during the time off of the board where there are pauses.
I don't like the running on the Wii Fit. I don't like to run in place and it keeps getting on to me for running too fast and my mii has even fallen b/c she was running too fast. ha.
So far, really my favs on it are the hula hoop...that is really a good workout esp. the longer version with the advanced. , the jack knife, sev. yoga poses, push-up/side planks, other strength ones, and for the balance, i love the ski events.

I purchased Outdoor Challenge recently and we are having fun with it now and with it, you can do a 5 minute hard exercise challenges that are really good. And I'm guessing the more you do them, the longer/harder items will be unlocked.

(I'm watching Ellen right now and she is hula hooping with Torisa Tomei (haha)...sorry, I thought that was funny. I've heard it's becoming big in fitness classes.

Anyway, hope this helps some.
My weight has dropped and my BMI but I'm not going to get too excited and post anything yet. Maybe the end of the week.

Out door challenge...What is this? Can you post a link? Thanks! :woohoo:

I don't know of a link but I'll look. It is made for the Wii also. Come with a mat similar to the Dance Dance Revolution. Some of the games on it are: kayaking, log jumping, hurdling, sprinting, trampoline (haven't unlocked it yet though, I don't think). One of my favorites is the mine cart which is a little like a roller coaster and you have to pump the wii remote up and down for speed and jump over areas in the track to keep from falling off or lean one way or another. It's fun. Also, with the Outdoor Challenge, two people can go at one time and you can race.

It sounds cool..I'll have to try to find it.

I love my Wii Fit... which games do you think are best for the abs???

great info- glad i read this thread

i just got on our Wii fit yesterday for the first time, i did enjoy it, and i figure any calories burned is always a positive

however i do agree with reesecup, it's hard for me to feel i have completed a 'cardio workout' with pauses every couple mins. do the sessions get longer the more time you log into it?

also, can anyone with Jillian's program tell me if her routines are flowing, or have that option, as opposed to Wii fit's pausing every couple mins to choose what you want to do next?

TIA

I just did the Wii Fit for 36 minutes. I did some yoga, some strength exercises, super hula hoop, long distance island run, basic and advanced step, and finally completed bubble ball basic. I then showed my kids the penguin slide nad snowboard slalom.
I lost a few ounces from yesterday. I have 11.2 pounds to go.
It's a snow day here in MA so I will probably do more later. I will also do my elliptical tonight when DH does his Wii Fit. I fell asleep on the couch last night so we didn't go back downstairs. DH is working from home today so we should have more time today.:cool1: :yay: :wishtwenty

Jillians program does flow which helps but it is hard to figure out how to make your character run and worth through the games. The log walk said I didn't even burn any calories :guilty: I'm slowly figuring out how all of that works.

Yes, with the wii fit the more you log in and do certain excercises the more games/time/reps you get. I think that is what makes it fun. Each time you have enough fit credits it unlocks something new. :woohoo: HTH

so glad i found this...

santa brought the Wii fit to DD and I love it!! (thanks Santa :santa: it such a nice change from my other exercises(walking, curves)... hopefully my body will notice the change in activity and start changing...;)

i love hearing all the success stories...:thumbsup2

I started on Wii Fit a week ago, I've done it three times, and I've already gotten a couple of new strength training and yoga exercises, and a couple of balance games. Still trying to beat the ski slalom, and wondering when the boxing comes in. It's pretty easy, but I can tell I'm doing something. And the workouts do add minutes as you get better at them.

So do you actually run ON the balance board? I haven't tried that one yet. I have my BB on a rug, and move it off to the pergo floor for the weigh in. There's not much cushion from the rug and I have to watch the knees.

No you don't run on the BB. You have the controller in your pocket or your hand and it monitors you somehow...works for me. I injured my knee a few years ago and running is very difficult. With this, I can go my speed and not have cars passing  I can feel the difference and am loving it!

I know you are not supposed to wear shoes on the BB but I wear my tevas for a little extra support. Seems to work for me!

No, you put the Wii remote in your pocket or hold it during the run. It's fun to watch other Mii's run by you and wave to you. It's great when they all applaud you at the end of your run.
Remember you can do the boxing on the Wii sports while you wait. We all like to do that. I beat my DH the other night. My 4 year old knocked out her opponent in the first round. She is so funny. The aerobics is hard but fun.

I did the lunges yesterday and this morning. My thighs are KILLING me! It is so painful to go down the stairs and get off the couch that I moan and my DH laughs at me each time I get up. Going down the stairs is less painful!
I am having some success so far so I will definitely be continuing. I try to do it for about 30-35 minutes each morning. I keep earning more exercises and games so I feel like I want to continue.

I have not dared to try the lunges yet! I think I will do the yoga pose that's a lunge for a while before I try it. I kind of hurt a muscle Wii bowling the other night. Yes, that's a lunge too.

I'll try the boxing on the Wii Sports. Thanks for the suggestion.

The lunges just about killed me and I have worked myself up to 60 minutes on the ellipitcal and can't even do a few minutes of Wii Fit lunges.

Hi there. The more you do it, the more it will unlock longer times. Like an advanced step will open and a long distance run. Strength training will unlock like extra lunges and jack knives. Also, I got pretty good at the ski slalom and I have opened up the advanced on it. There is the hula hoop and the "super hula hoop" which is going both ways and a longer time for each side back to back. That's a good one!
In order to try and keep going, I click retry quickly if it's something cardio and then just do jumping jacks or run in place until it starts back up.
I hope I can unlock even more advanced, longer times though. I think I have everything unlocked except for one strength which is a challenge one. I'm going by the pictures that show..i've unlocked other , longer versions of things. But I just don't know how much you can keep unlocking.

Someone asked about the kickboxing...I think I unlocked that not long into doing it. Then there is an advanced kickboxing.

I still really like it and I think I'll use it for a long time to come... can't wait for the Fit 2 though :)

Are they really making a Fit 2? Seems like they would be concentrating on getting this one available for everyone that wants it! It's really hard to find.

Forgot to say, I have ordered "My Fitness Coach" for the Wii. I don't think it uses the balance board, but it got great reviews and is pretty cheap comparatively. Thought I could mix it up. Other games I want that promise a good workout: Outdoor Challenge and DDR. I have We Cheer, that's suppose to be good cardio, but I haven't tried it yet. Probably need to work up to it. I wish Dancing with the Stars actually involved some dancing when you play it, I'd have that one in a heartbeat!
