Hey friends,
I recently purchased a Wii system with Mario Kart (great deal at Target-posted about it yesterday). I also couldn't help noticing that the Wii fit Plus bundle was also on sale for $69. Seems like a great price but I was wondering if those of you who have it could let me know how you like it? I've been trying to lose some weight and get healthier, and have been looking for ways to shake up my fitness routine. Been getting a bit bored with it lately.
Are you happy with your Wii Fit? I've been seeing mixed reviews, hence my question to you all.
Thanks!

last year i was given one for christmast, and i started it in January, i've since lost about 30 - 35 pounds and several inches. I am/was not the fittest person around, hah! and have some back issues so high impact is not an option for me. So i took it easy with some yoga and strength ( 15 minutes ) and step aerobics, and walking. I've since moved up to and hour workout. 30 minutes strength and yoga, 10 step, 20 boxing. I will mix it up occassionally. I'm up to expert level now. But i figured any activity is better than no activity and didn't beat myself up if i missed a day. Found doing it in the morning works best. Good luck and to answer your question.... YES!

I would say yes if you don't work out a lot already. It is pretty fun to do and it does get you moving. I have lost about 20 pounds with it, but I'm not going to say it is because of it because I have changed my diet and have added walking a couple of times a week. I find I use it more in the winter when it is dark to early for me to feel comfortable walking outside.

We don't really use it to workout. But we do like the games on it, good family Wii fun!!

If you want it to lose weight, I would say no. We used it a few times and it was kind of fun but not much of a work out (running in place). Maybe if you are a couch potato and never exercise.

The Wii fit may not be the best for weight loss, but the balance board is worth it. My best friend is a physical therapist and she said that the board is better for balance than equipment that costs thousands of dollars. They use it at her work for therapy. The scale on the board is very accurate. If it will get you moving, it will be worth it at $69. Also check to see when you purchase new games is they use the board, that will expand it's usefulness.

If you are already moderately in shape and want the wii fit to get serious exercise... it won't help much. My husband was a Marine when we got ours, and while he enjoyed it and was challenged by some of the strength training exercises, overall it was very easy for him. Having said that, my out-of-shape self was better at the games because I played on it more and got much better balance :cool1: It really does help in that regard and if you want something to help tone your muscles, imo it's great. Especially for your core muscles.

Now if you're going for entertainment, my kids and my family in general have loved the wii fit. My boys are 5 and 6 and we've had the wii fit about 3 years now and it still gets played with. Not quite as much as it used to, but still regularly. The games on it really can be fun, especially when you're challenging each other and my boys love it. I just think it's hilarious to watch them ;)

It is very good purchase if you have done it. Wii is very good game console and it also helps you in keeping you fit.

People greatly underestimate the value of yoga and working your core. It is a very good work out actually. You don't necessarily think so if you only do it a bit, but to do it daily for 45 min or so you will see it's very good. I used it for a year, it did get boring just because I wanted more poses and strength training stuff, so I picked up New U Fitness First Yoga and Pilates. It's much more intense and not something I'd recommend starting with, but it was great after I was so far along with the Wii Fit... well, Fit Plus, it's much easier than Wii Fit to navigate.
I did of course change my diet, just eating healthier, and I exercised about 45 min with the Wii Fit Plus and when I had time I'd do 1/2 of the step or cycling on it and I lost 25 lbs. No one believed me that yoga is any good "can't really lose weight doing that". I don't think they believed me even after I told them what I did, but you just can't tell some people.
After a bad car accident end of last year I've not done the yoga all year, finally starting to try to get back into it, and you can tell my core really needs it, can tell a huge difference.

it's much better than sitting on the couch:thumbsup2 gets your heart rate up,and it's fun to keep up with the activities...buy it! I like to play wii activity games when it's too dark/cold for my long walks:cool1:

I think it's worth it. Wii fit itself may not be the greatest workout, esp. if you are already in good shape, but getting the board opens you up to other, harder games like EA Sports Active, Biggest Loser, etc.

I would not have purchased the Wii. It's old technology and a new version is coming out in 2012. There are much better gaming choices. Personally, I'd return it and get an XBox with Kinect. Lots of great fitness programs are available.

I agree with the above postings. We bought one with the intent of maybe grabbing a good workout while still in our living room, but found it wasn't a very good workout for us as we are used to the gym and a little more difficult workouts. I definitely think it's great for those just getting into working out or want to just keep moving. Ours sits and collects dust in our living room and I'll be selling it on craigslist at some point ;)

Ditto this exactly. I see the Wii Fit as being good for someone who is very much a beginner and doesn't exercise often (or heck, at all). We bought it with the intent of working out on the weekends at home in the winter when we don't feel like hauling ourselves to the gym. Didn't really work out- I should have spent the money on some cold weather running gear :rotfl:

I really really loved my Wii Fit. When I bought my Wii it came with the fitness plus bundle & the balance board. It has some very good balancing & stretching exercises that are fun. I liked that it had where you could set your goal & a chart to show your progress. Sadly my house was broken into only a couple months after I purchased the Wii & it was stolen. I do still have the balance board tho (it was pushed up under the bed) & would like to purchase another Wii soon.
