Wii and my SUV

Yesterday we bought the kids a Wii, and they asked me a question I don't know the answer to.

My car has a built in entertainment center. On the console there are yellow, red and white jacks along w/ a jack to plug in a regular electrical cord. We've used this jack before so DS can plug in his uncharged Nintento DS and play while I'm driving.

The kids want to know if they can plug the Wii into my car? Anyone know? Anyone done this before? TIA

Yes. Don't forget you'd need a place for the sensor bar. I think it would be great for a long trip.

Oh yea, the sensor bar. Hmmm. The kids have it all figured out - They will put down the middle row of seats and sit in the third row. They'll just probably put the sensor bar on my head :lmao:

**trying not to imagine Wii bowling in an SUV**

j/k I know there are other games that require sitting, but that was the mental image that popped in there.

I guess you could put the sensor bar on the center console?

Lol, the 1st image that popped into my mind was trying to use the Wii Fit in the car! Shoot, I can barely do the tree pose while completely still, let alone rounding a corner at 30 mph! :rotfl:

Well obviously some people already thought of using the Wii in the car. I just found an ad for a car adapater for the wii so you can plug it into your cigarette lighter for power.

Also, some folks mentioned using velcro dots on the back of the sensor bar, so it stays in place, but you can still take it down when you want.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Just make sure they have the Wiimote straps on...would hate to see you get hit in the back of the head while driving.LOL!!

FIRST thing that popped into my head...pun intended!

I have an entertainment DVD system in my SUV (Lexus) too. We have an electrical outlet for a plug in the back. When we drove to FL we took our Gamecube and games the kids had a ball! I can only laugh at the people who were driving behind us watching the kids play video games as it is especially visible at night. The kids have wireless headphones too which make it nice for the adults to listen to whatever we want. Silence is golden when being in a car for 20 plus hours!!

We left our wii system at home and took gamecube instead
because I envisioned the kids not having enough room to swing the remote and nunchuks around.

You're not taking the dog, are you? I hear Wiimotes can be very dangerous to their noggins.

Hey, you need to check the capacity on the plug in your car. Mine will power a laptop, but a curling iron is a no-go. Some devices pull more amps than others.

We have the wireless headphones too - it took me a while to figure out that I can listen to what I want on the radio while they listen to their movies. That's when I tune into the comedy channels on the sattelite radio :goodvibes :goodvibes

We have taken along the other one, not the wii. What was before that one? N64? Game Cube maybe? The square one. Anyway, yes, it works. I bought an adaptor for the cigarette lighter thingy that you plug a regular cord into. Worked just fine.

We have done the game systems. But what is especially fun is a karaoke machine with a large SUV full of cheerleaders. :rotfl2: :faint: I don't have a clue as to what we were thinking. :confused3 :sad2:

:rotfl: Just as long as they don't glue it there.

That was my first thought!

I can see them playing guitar hero with the full band in the back of an SUV! Which would require a microphone!

That, Smileybug, really sounds like poor execution.

How'd you do that? We can't get ours to seperate!

Wii (just a little pun) bought an Intec wireless sensor bar for our Wii and velcroed it to the top of the Monitor in DW's SUV. It comes with handy suction cups for regular set-top installation but that didn't work for us in the vehicle.

The kids usually sit in the 3rd row to play. This gives them a little distance from the screen to move the controller around......and also gives us a bit of distance in case of controller mishap (er fling-age).

It works great. We are driving to WDW in 46 days. The Wii is a BIG part of our "Child Pacification Strategy".

The other wireless sensor bars require 4 batteries (vary between AA & AAA), where the Intec only requires 2 AA.

Like so many things Wii, these wireless sensors are hard to find in stock. I would suggest procuring it as quickly as possible.
