Hi,

Does anybody know is wifi is available at the New York Hotel?
And, if so, what is the outrageous price they're charging for it?!
(I very much doubt they're doing it for free as the Orlando resort has only rolled free wifi out in the last 18 months or so)

Thanks

You can definitely get it in the hotel, as I used it in June last year, I can't remember the cost I'm afraid but it certainly wasn't the most expensive hotel wifi I've ever used

If I remember correctly from our December trip it was somewhere in the region of €10 for 24 hours, I'm not 100% sure though.

You have a choice of vouchers, I bought a 10 euros one, it did me for the 5 days we were there and worked in the hotel room at HNY.

There's free wifi at McD's used that last time we were there and I read recently that there's free wifi in the train station, don't know if anyone can confirm this though.

Still never tried in the station as I don't feel 100% safe getting my ordi out there - too many thieves around - will ask OH next time to check on his phone.
I get free wifi in McDo, Starbucks and EoS :)

An alternative to hotel wifi is data roaming with your mobile network. I think there were some new EU rules that came into place last year that meant mobile networks could no longer charge outrageous roaming fees within the EU.

So these days I just pay O2 UK £2/day for 25MB of data when in most European countries - 25MB is usually sufficient for me (email, Google maps), and when I hit that limit O2 cuts off my data access unless I specifically text them back to add another 25MB for £2. I think most of the other UK networks now have fairly reasonable roaming caps too but best to check! The bonus with this is I get access to the internet anywhere there is a decent 3G network (can check wait times for rides using the Disneyland app within the park)!

That's good to know, I'm on O2. So you can just use your phone on 3G like you would here for £2 a day? :)

Thank you everyone. Other half just cannot do with Internet - particularly with such poor tv choice in the room (for the end of the day) n

Details at http://www.o2.co.uk/international/o2-travel - quite a lot of countries where you can get this! Also just realised that it's actually £1.99 instead of £2 (well close enough though!).

I don't remember having to do anything special to get the connection, just used my phone as normal. O2 automatically charged me £1.99 per (UK calendar) day for the first 25 MB of data. When I hit the cap they stopped my data access unless I added another block of 25 MB for the day.

Edit: just looked a bit more closely - should add that when you hit the limit, they stop your data access if you're on Pay and Go (unless you add on another 25 MB block), but if you're on Pay Monthly they may move you back to standard rates (after sending an alert)!!

I'm with Vodafone and for £3 per day you can use your existing contract outside the UK with no extra charges.
