Wifi use in WDW

In January I tried using just the WDW internet. For the most part it worked without a problem. But after a few days of having connectivity problems while trying to book our next FP in queue, I paid $15 to Roam Mobility for a data only plan for the rest of the week. Was worth the extra cost for me
I am really just thinking about Messaging in the parks so it sounds like it will work vs paying extra for a roaming pkg. Its only a small cost, but a penny saved....

Yeah, 3 years ago it wasn't that good. But they've made great improvements and on our last trip in October had no problems with normal use. Wouldn't try streaming in the parks, too many people trying to use it at once, but that worked ok in our resort.
:thanks:

We were just there last month. I don't have a data plan at all so completely relied on free wifi! I found that MDE worked much better/faster using the browser instead of the APP. Had no issues at all at the resort.

Never had any issue with wifi at WDW except in some areas at Animal Kingdom where it would be looking for a signal all the time! Especially in the Dinoland area. I also find that my iPhone battery at WDW drains very quickly so I always carry a battery stick with me to charge it.
Switch to airplane mode and the battery will last much, much longer.

I use nothing but the free WDW Wifi and have never had any issues. We IMessage back and forth constantly and use Face time as well. I use the Text Me app to make phone calls while outside of Canada and have no issue using it at WDW.

Well, I have to change my thoughts a bit about streaming in the parks. I have a friend who has been in the parks the last two days and live streaming throughout the day. It's been flawless and he reports no problems with the wifi. Looks like you should have little trouble.

I always get a Roam Mobility package because we do two kinds of Disney trips - camping at Fort Wilderness (where the Wifi is spotty) or runDisney, where I'm trying to meet up with friends at 4:00 in the morning at the Epcot parking lot (where there is no wifi). That said, we very rarely have issues with the wifi in the parks or at the resorts. It's definitely good enough to rely on for MDE, messaging, etc.

Always works well for us. Last December we face timed with our grandson during the MVMCP parade and it only cut out once

Glad to hear that WiFi shouldn't be a problem, as I'm hoping to use Lines too. We had wondered if we should bring walkie-talkies for communicating in the parks but maybe that's not necessary.
