Hello,

I just read that some Disney resorts have wifi now! What is the situation for DVC members? The thread I was looking at was long and old and as I read it it contradicted itself so here I am.:goodvibes

We had wifi in Kidani last week!!! Trouble logging in at first but their tech support fix the problem and how nice it was to not be connect by a wire:thumbsup2

All WDW DVC resorts now have wireless in rooms. Reports on quality have been to two extremes: it is excellent or it is awful, indicating that Disney may have gone chinzy in putting in enough access points causing room location to be very important in determining quality.

Thanks for the responses.

Are we paying extra for the wifi or is it free? I'm surprised there was no official anouncement for this.

Given the reports of spotty service, I'd bring a wireless router for a few more trips until all the kinks are worked out with the wifi system and the slow/dead spots are addressed..

We just finished a 4 resort stay and found the WiFi to be good and bad. Slow speeds sometimes, and at BWV, our NIC would require reseting a couple of times a day and their router assigned us a incorrect IP address.

The old wired system is still in place but not supported by the new vendor. The Ethernet cables have been removed from the rooms so you need to bring your own cable. The speed on the wired system was very, very slow.

:earsboy: Bill

We just returned from a split stay. At Coronado I had to call tech support and they asked me for my IP and model number. They did something at their end and then I was fine for the whole week, and also when we moved to OKW for a whole week. We didn't have any problems once we logged on. My Norton kept telling me my connection was unsecure, but we had no problems with that.

We found it to also be good and bad. At Kidani I had to call tech and get them to help get it connected.

At BCV it worked ok, was kinda slow. We had ethernet cables and connections at both locations.

At Jambo House last month WiFi was ridiculously slow in the late afternoons and evenings. There wasn't a problem early in the mornings or late at night. I think the problem is that now WiFi is free to everyone, not just DVC members, and it slows down at peak times. I'd rather pay for good service than to have the very slow service we had.

Dont we already pay for good service as part of out dues... thats why we got free wored internet... and valet parking.....

Last week at BCV and AKK no problems at all with wireless. In BCV we were using two laptops and one i-phone all at the same time without issues for anyone.

Yes, we used to have free wired Internet as one of our perks, but since WiFi now has been given free to everyone, we seem to be out of luck on getting good service. We seem to be getting fewer perks every year.

Amen to that! Every perk we had now goes to everyone. What is the point in paying all this money a year without a little perk? Sometimes I think it is better to just pay for a regular deluxe resort instead. At least then you can get free dining offers! :headache:

OK, I am technology challenged. Does this mean I can bring my Ipad now or do I still need my laptop because it has to be plugged in to use?

Wifi worked great at OKW. Speeds were even faster than the wired version. IMHO.

Just left AKV Jambo, and the wifi was painfully slow on my iPad. I was thinking about packing a wireless router next time, but from a previous poster, it seems that solution would be no better. Let's hope they are still working out the kinks!
