WIFI in parks is practically non-existent!

Its been good for me the past year or two. Before that it was horrible. Could rarely call or txt DW while seperated in the park.

We don't have problems with calling/texting, but data is terrible. It frequently drops to 3g or less in frontier and adventure lands too. Took me 10 minutes to book my next maxpass before going on indy. Why is it just us??

Hmm....sounds like mixed reviews on the Verizon. I have Verizon and was planning to just use the data in areas the Wi-Fi is crummy. I have the 2GB plan, but it's super easy to upgrade to a bigger data plan from the phone, so I don't mind doing that if I need to, then bumping it back down later. Hopefully one of the two options will work for getting MaxPasses throughout the day.

Jperiod, I wonder if you were there at a busier time than the other posters, thus causing the towers to not be able to keep up with the demand.

We have Sprint and find the wifi in the parks to be hit and miss, mostly miss.

It depends what you're trying to do. If you're streaming video, you're likely not going to get any carrier to work consistently. On the other hand, if you're checking Facebook, you're mostly loading content and then reading it, so you don't notice your signal strength going up and down as much. A lot of what people experience will have to do with their phone and the number of people connecting to the same cell site. I've been standing next to my sister, who also has Verizon and only one of us gets a good connection. And I've been standing next to friends with AT&T and we both get the same level of service. As far as WiFi, you have to decide how much you're going to depend on it, measure that against the limited area of availability and possible overload of users. If not being able to connect is going to cause issues with your trip, then consider an alternative data plan.

I usually take a lunch break at Pizza Port. The Wi-Fi there (at least at the outside seating) is actually pretty good. If you hope to have continuous Wi-Fi while walking through the park, we're definitely not there yet. But in the places that it's good (such as PP and the head of Main St near the circle), it's not bad at all. I often use it to post park pics to this group. Without it, ya'll would have to wait till I got home ;-).

We have Sprint (I have unlimited Data) and had no problems with normal use in California Adventure last month. I was not streaming video (other than a few short YouTube video's for my son while waiting in line) but normal Email, Facebook, Twitter, Disneyland App all that came up quick and easy with Sprint. I have always had trouble while in line at Indy or any other inside building spaces, but if you are waiting outside, or walking from ride to ride you should be fine. :) Hope this helps.

Here today and same issues. Small world line was awful. Couldn't load the Disney app, Facebook, or email. I had 4g and several bars. So weird.

What kind of phone do you have? I'm assuming you've done the "turned it off and then on again" thing?

These are the same 2 areas of the parks that I had trouble in with my Verizon service last month as well. It worked pretty good in the other areas of the parks though (good enough to work the app anyway, which is all I was trying to do in the parks for the most part).

How is the Verizon service in the park?
We just got back from our trip this past week. We have Verizon and we had a lot of problems using MaxPass, half the time we couldn't get the app to open. Getting a signal was nearly impossible in Disneyland, it worked better from DCA. It was frustrating.

Ugh. I will be using MaxPass, so hopefully it's not an exercise in frustration.

How is ATT service? I know it's the official service for Disneyland, but does it actually work? We plan to get maxpass.

Late to respond, but it depends on where you are. If you go over to like the Tomorrowland Train station, it's dead. I'm lucky if I get 1 bar. Most of the rest of the park, unless the cell towers are highly congested due to near capacity crowds, the reception is pretty decent outside of being in bathrooms or some in door queues like Soarin'
