Hi,
This will be our first time staying at the Boardwalk Villas.
Can anyone tell me if there if Wi Fi there?
And if it's free or do you have to pay for it?

There is no wifi in the rooms, it's wired. DVC members using their membership to stay in a room get free wired internet. The lobby has wifi but it is $9.95 per 24 hours.

So is there a PC in the room?

Or do I need to bring my laptop and if so, what connections do I need to bring to wire it?

There are no computers provided, you'll need to bring your laptop. An ethernet cable is provided for the wired service, or you can bring your own wireless router.

The ethernet cable provided is only about 5 feet in length. If you are not bringing a wireless router, you may want to consider bringing a longer cable.

There are business centers in the Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Contemporary and a few other resorts which have computers. I believe there is a charge for access. My husband has used them a couple of times. He said they were not crowded, were quiet and worked perfectly. I don't know the charge for it. He also said it is much faster than the hard wired service in the rooms.

OK I am not super up on technology but am considering purchasing an Ipad, How would I use it in the rooms if there is no WiFi ?

You'd need to bring your own wireless router and connect it to the wired modem.

My kids have had luck getting free wifi outside of Big River Grill on the Boardwalk.

Okay, whoever gets one first please post how you liked using it instead of a laptop in your DVC room. And if you fly, tell how it went through security.

They can also regail us with all the things their pricey Ipad doesn't do that the people with cheap netbooks in the villa next door are doing, like running multiple applications simultaneously, watching Youtube (or any other video employing Flash) and -- particularly relevant to wireless internet use -- enjoying a consistent connection (reports from the trenches are already showing the Ipad has recurring issues with connectivity). Maybe all the people who are frothing at the mouth for one these should wait for all the bugs to worked out.
