we will be at the boardwalk may 13th and the 14th which is my wifes birthday. We are with ds5 and dd6 months. I'm looking for any ideas of something special I could do for my wife for mothers day and her birthday. After two days at the bw we go to vb for rest and relaxation. Think real hard!! I need help!!!

Depending on how much you want to spend and if you want to get dressed up, you could arrange for a Disney baby sitter and then make PS reservations for dinner at Victoria & Albert's and do the chef's table or you don't have to get dressed up andthe Polynesian show & dinner at the Poly

Hi there!! Speaking as a wife and not a mom (no kids yet!), I would love it if my DH surprised with me with some pampering activities--for example a few hours at the GF spa with a massage! Or a manicure/pedicure. Now, if you were thinking more along the lines of a family activity--perhaps a quiet dinner or something that she enjoys doing (horseback riding at Fort Wilderness?).

It's hard to say since I have no idea what your DW likes. But at Disney, you're bound to come up with something great!! Have a blast!

My wife has been working long hours lately and is really missing the kids. The main reason for us to vacation is to spend time together. The spa is a great idea, is there one at the boardwalk? I'm thinking of doing the Birthday Illuminations Cruise. Has anyone ever done this. It is a pontoon boat decorated with streamers and balloons, a cake ,party favors and beverages. You cruise around cresent lake then into Epcot for the fireworks. I'm sure our 5 yr. old would have a great time, which would relly please his mother.

yes the cruise is on a pontoon boat. I would say doing the birthday cruise as a surprise would be a great idea. But don't delay - the cruises sell out quickly. This could be a busy weekend with Mother's day crowds. We have taken the Illumination's cruise (w/o cake) and it is an awesome experience. We have given the cruise as an anniversary gift with cake and beverages and it was a hit! If you are wanting family time, this would be special. If you can't get a cruise, and you want to include the kids, a character dinner/breakfast would be fun. Not only would your wife have a good time, but as you said, she would love watching your daughter enjoy herself. You can also call ahead to most of the restaurants and arrange for a birthday cake. Have a wonderful time as a family!

You're taking your wife to WDW for her birthday -- what more could she want? :)

The first several years we were members, we were at DVC for my birthday. Once my DW got a cake and balloons delivered to the room, so it was there when we got back for lunch.

Do what my DW does -- she says "it's your day, we'll do whatever you want." Maybe your wife has something she's secretly always wanted to do at WDW ;)

I like Doc's idea the best!!!!!!!! I may have my DD try that on her Daddy come July when we will be there for her b-day!!!!!!!!

I'm working on that, I just can't get her to go along with it, YET. Give me time. I just tried to make reservations for the birthday cruise, no luck. I guess I should of planned this a long time ago. Please more ideas, besides points.

What ever you do, just don't stress out too much and be sure you all enjoy yourselves, I'm sure she'll love just spending the time with her family so don't try to get too elaborate. Just Have FUN!!!

How about you take the kids to the pool at WLV while DW get a massage in their health club than take the whole family for dinner at Wispering Cayon. If you tell them it is her B-day they will sing and they sometimes have hobby horse races around the resturant for all the birthday people . While she is there maybe she will fall in love with the lodge and want to get some points there too. A half hour massage was about $60. They have nice bathroom with a sauna and room for changing out of you suits. Any way have a great tim:)

How about some fun family photos. You could arrange with the photograghers at DD or there is a spot at MGM that does some great family photos with Disney backdrops of course. And there is another spot that did photos and had a LOT of photo accessories for sale there but I forget where. Maybe part of innoventions?

Are you flying in? How about a limo ride from the airport?

Or you could arrange with those little airplanes that are always flying over Disney with a banner to wish her a Happy Birthday and mother's day from you and your children.

Call Disney dining, I'm sure they must have something somewhere's on property special for mother's day.

Too bad it's so soon; you could have had a brick made in her honor.

hmmm, I guess I'm out of ideas.Hope you find something special to do for her. She already sounds like a lucky lady. Have a fun weekend.

I've heard of a great outfit who does "surprise" gifts in the parks. I think they are called Gifts of a Lifetime and they are .com I believe. I've never had the experience myself but those that have seem to love it. You can decide with them how to "surprise" your wife and they can plan like a treasure hunt to find a gift at the end or another surprise. Has anybody else heard of this outfit or used them? I think this would be a great gift to get!:jester: :smooth: :p

Just out of curiosity, did you specifically ask for the Illuminations cruise or did you ask for a birthday cruise? The reason I ask is because I called to book a cruise for a friend and I asked for the Illuminations cruise and it was sold out. The CM then said they had a cruise that leaves from Wilderness Lodge and goes over to Magic Kingdom to watch their fireworks. We also saw the Electrical Water Parade (?), River Country and all the hotels and the Wedding Pavillion. The boat was decorated and we had cake and sodas. It was very nice.

How about sitting on the beach at WL and watching the Water Pageant. Leave her alone with the kids for a little while and go get a birthday cake and balloons. Of course have that prearranged somehow. What a nice surprise and she can have fun with the family!!!!!

Another idea, let her sleep a little late, get the kids up yourself, bath and dress them....Straighten up the room and have coffee made........Treat her like a Queen!!!!

Most of all, enjoy the wonderful time you will have together as a family!!! As a mom, I can attest to how special that really is!!!

that's a great idea, but I treat her like a queen every day. I'm thinking of the character breakfast at the castle, I'm probably to late for that also. Maybe a massage at vero beach (we are going there for 4-days after the bw) would be the best idea. When I called for the fireworks birthday cruise I also checked all the other cruises. Maybe someone will cancel, I'll check when we arrive. The kids and I could always go to the pool at the gf while she is at the spa. Please keep the ideas coming. Is there any hot air ballon rides at the parks, we did that over napa valley on our honeymoon.

Your chances of getting an Illuminations cruise are VERY slim. I tried last year to reserve at 90 days out for three days in a row, and they were all reserved by 7:02 AM (7:00 AM is when they open). This was December, 2000. AMWay was having a big convention when we were there and I wonder if CA$H from the big corporate planners buys these before they are "available" to the public. Anyone ever get one of these reserved?
