Wierd day at the park yesterday

It was a strange Labor Day at the parks yesterday.

CM were not friendly at all, they were actually very tense (not all, but a lot of them)

There were men in blue suits with dogs sniffing through strollers parked next to Small World. In 25 years of going to DLand more times than I can count I have never seen this.

Also Detectives/Police at DCA. At was all very weird to me.

The dogs were strange to me, anyone ever see this?

That does sound a bit strange......usually they try to "mask" police/security from the crowds.....so for them to be open about it....makes you wonder what or who they were looking for!! As for the CM's, I would be tense & uncomfortable too if something big enough was happening to have actual uniformed cops in the parks. With the dogs sniffing, you'd almost think bomb threat. I'm guessing it couldn't have been too bad though since the parks stayed open.

Probably increased security because of the holiday. I have seen the dogs and security roaming through the parks on a few occasions during the summer months when it was very crowded. I don't know that I've ever seen uniformed Anaheim Police, but if it was anything serious I am sure they would not have subjected guests to a threat. I have seen uniformed Disney security in several different uniforms walking through the parks at different times. Never really thought too much about it.

Probably. I don't usually say anything when they are rude (cm) but it was just more than usual yesterday. But then you get the ones that are super friendly and smile and that is always nice . I do see other guests getting upset at CM too.

It's possible there could have been some sort of threat or bomb threat as the reason for the escalated police enforcement.

Wow! The cm's I met yesterday were great.

The only uniformed Anaheim Pd I saw were two officers in the common area between DL and DCA right after the bag check area.

There were alot of people there so I don't mind extra security. It took 15 minutes to drive and arrive at the parking entrance at 9:35 am and 20+ minutes from the parking entrance to my parking space (Goofy 10 C). It was the longest I've ever had to wait to get into Mickie and friends.

Indy Adventure was down all day yesterday.

I saw two dogs and their handlers back in June on N.O. Square. They were just standing there. Didn't think anything of it.

My wife and I saw Disney security with a dog right around where the new orleans stage show goes on...earlier in the day we had smelled a distinct odor when leaving Indy and we assumed that is one of the reasons they were out. We also saw an undercover come out of backstage by the firehouse...he was a 23-27 year old man wearing cargo shorts and a t-shirt and sunglasses...the only difference is that he had a headset cable running down into the neck of his shirt!

You have probably seen them many times - unknowingly.

Probably. I see security around a lot but only saw city PD once and they were in a hurry. There has only been a couple times where I have seen security in a hurry. There are so many camera I'd love see what their HQ looks like.

We saw Uniformed security/police k-9 units in both parks this weekend. We've only been to DL a couple of times (usually go to WDW) and just thought maybe that was normal. Maybe not?

I have seen uniformed PD in the parks before. They were there quite a bit in the months after 9/11, and around the first anniversary as well.

I've seen the dogs before too- about a year ago? At least, whatever they were looking for, they took care of it since it all seems to be fine now.

I know it was busier at the park than they expected and they were a little short handed in some areas. This calls for many CM's to extend shifts and work sometimes up to 12 hours - you might have just got hit with the wrong person at the wrong time. I would say 95 percent of the time CM's are very good at handling most situations. but you can only handle so much stupidity in one day before you snap.

They may step it up a for a couple of days after the 1/2 marathon since they just had 15000 runners (some in costumes) go through the park without going through any form of security.

We saw two canine officers each day when we were there in August. I spoke with one for a couple of minutes to find out where his dog had been trained. I am glad they taking their security more seriously.
