wide angle lenses

Wowza! I really want a UWA - I was thinking canon 10-22 but we'll see how this one performs and is priced!

I'm not holding my breath on either the price or performance. In my nightly pep talk with the Tokina, though, he did seem a little threatened.

Yeah.... from the quality of the work you've been posting, it appears Mr. Tokina has been quite the little slacker. Maybe this will get him to pick up the pace....

:lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl:

Really..... tell Mr. Tokina to call up his little brother (currently in my possession and mostly unused so far) and give him some tips!

I was thinking Canon 10-22

Although I was considering the Tokina everyone speaks about - I've found it virtually impossible to find one - and when you do, they cost nearly as much as the Canon.

At this point I'm about to take Mr. Rockwell's advice and buy the Canon!

Quote from the article: "It is the way people experience the world...."

Here is a link to a Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper article on Tom Sharpless (also mentions Adam Trachtman). These gentleman are two innovators in wide angle photography.

Some really great thought provoking ideas were mentioned in the article. I especially like the "Mad Scientist" aspect of taking apart a scanner and incorporating the sensor into a rig that would take wide angle photos.

The article also contains a link to 360 Cities, a site for some of Tom Sharpless's panoramic work.

Definitely check the 360 Cities site out!

They should have done an article on the Disboards' Ultra Wide Angle Cult.

Truth be told, though, we're holding out for the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, or New York Times. The Philadelphia Inquirer? After watching enough Eagles and Pens games, I've gathered that people from Pennsylvania aren't literate! (Just kidding!!!)

:hyper2: :duck: :hyper2: :duck:

Just because we Philadelphian's throw snowballs at drunken, disruptive, alcoholics in Santa suits doesn't mean we aren't refined... I drove through Indiana a couple of times and let me tell you your rest stops are nothing to photograph!

Ohio has a lot more going for it than Indiana any day ;)

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

You're just jealous because we have culinary delights such as Scrapple, which tastes much better than any breaded pork tenderloin you can throw on a bun!

So put that in your sugar cream pie and smoke it! :p

Bash on Indiana all you want; it's fine with me, I feel the same way! I am only here because this is where I got my best offer for college. I only continue to stay here because this is where Sarah's (my fiancee) family lives. In almost every regard, I cannot stand this state (Pennsylvania is undoubtedly much better than Indiana; I have enjoyed my visits there and only give you guff because of last year's Stanley Cup Finals).

My heart lies in Michigan, which is unquestionably a great state. To be sure, we do have budgetary issues and that whole "Detroit-thing", but I blame the problems with Detroit on its proximity to Canada. :banana:

...Anyway, what we were talking about? That article is pretty interesting...

Bet he won't come down to the stadium during a game with a Dallas Jersey on to say that. :rotfl2:

Whooooooooaaaaaaaattttttttt?

You know, we would have invaded you a long time ago but Orlando seems like such a long way to go before we get to anything useable. :thumbsup2

Need opinions please. This is a cheap way to have a wide angle lens, what do you thinks?

Can i have great result with a converter, instead of a ''real'' wide angle lens?

Thanks

I will not be as good as a true wide angle lens. I've used a similar screw on converter with video and the results were acceptable. As for photography, I would just save up for a full wide angle lens.

Did you have one in mind? What is the price? Depending on the price it might be an ok buy if you want to see what it is like, but I am willing to bet once you start using it you will want a true wide angle lens.

I saw some cheap one on Ebay, around 30usd.

Compare to around 600$ for a real wide angle lens, i know that you have for what you pay. But of occasional use, i think it might be ok.:confused3

From what I have heard, the quality of them is very low since they were originally made for film camcorders which are very low resolution. I doubt the results would be very acceptable past say 4-5MP.

I'm still a little confused by which hour. A) We haven't set an hour yet. B) what if it's for the 10am hour? Is that 10am YOUR time, MY time, DIS time, or Greenwich Mean time?? :confused3 I have a TON of pictures that would work for this, but I don't know which hour to look for.
