im going to be staying at a value resort 10/13-10/18 i cant choose wich one i want to try. ive never been before. someone help me decide please :upsidedow

I think you are going to get a lot of people telling you Pop Century.

What you should do is go onto allearsnet.com or wdwinfo.com and look at the pictures of the resorts and pick when of those big icons appeal to you the most.

IMHO, if you can afford it, you should stay at Port Orleans Riverside. If not, I would probably vote for Pop.

I think you are going to get a lot of people telling you Pop Century.

Looks like I'm the first one to say POP Century for sure - I've stayed at POR & still would stay @ POP over POR. I've also stayed at all 3 of the AllStars. I like the food court, store, etc and the overall feel of POP. It'll be the 2nd visit there for DH & I celebrating another anniversary. Love the fact that they have dedicated buses just to this resort and doesn't share like the AllStars do with each other. Never had to wait very long for buses, except at night when you're the last to leave the parks you may end up waiting or standing on the bus.

Enjoy your trip!!

Mickey - here we come.........

I can offer this piece of information about Pop... when using the buses that take you to the parks, the Pop Century bus makes only one stop - the park and the resort. The shuttles for the All Star Resorts stop at all three - Sports, Movies, Music... I was imagining last week how incredibly crowded those shuttles must be when the Pop ones had people standing every trip.

Besides all of that, I did really enjoy Pop. We just returned a few days ago, and it was a great place. I would request to be in the 60s building. We were very close to the "Hippy Dippy Pool," and it was great. Have a great trip!

We have now stayed in all four of the values with the most recent two weeks ago at ASMu. We loved POP but we also loved ASMu. I will say that although I have heard much about sharing busses at the All Stars, we only stopped two other times at ASMo. 99.9% of the time we did not share a bus with the other All Star Resorts. We shared when we went to Blizzard Beach. I do not know if it was because it was peak time. Maybe they don't share busses as much. I did see a couple of bus stops that said ASMo and *** shared but at the Music we did not really share. Maybe we were just lucky. We did not wait long for the bus either.

The food court at POP is definately better than ASMu. It seems to have a larger selection and be a bit bigger. But I have to say that ASMu has just recently all been re-done. The rooms all newly done and everything is very clean. We were very happy with how clean everything was. There is also a lot more landscaping at ASMu. They have less of the giant icons, although they do have them just less of them. All of the greenery is quite pleasant. We were in Broadway and only had about a five minute walk to the food court and busses. We were in the 80's building when we stayed at POP and had a little further walk.

We did love POP! There is something about the very BRIGHT and VIVID atmosphere there. ASMo is also very fun and bright. Young children really love their movie icons.

I really think whichever you choose you will be happy. We have never been unhappy with any of the values. We have also stayed at Port Orleans French Quarters many years ago and liked it too. For me... the values just have a little more Disney "feel". JMO.

Have fun planning!!!

I have also stayed at all the values. AS Music is my favorite as it has very nice landscaping, and is a bit more quiet. If you are there during busy times, you will most often not share a bus with other resorts.
Pop does have the better food court, but keep in mind the entire resorts bigger, so everything is bigger--including the crowds and the noise level in the food court. It also seemed (to me) that the 90's buildings were miles from anything.
Movies has great appeal, but I have trouble getting a room there. I think it sells out quickly.

It depends on if you're taking kids or not. My children (5 and 6) loved ASMO because of the Disney Icons. They didn't care one way or the other about the Pop Icons, they thought they were cool, but they didn't get the whole decade theming as they were too young. ASMO has the whole immersive Disney feel if you have children with you. I agree with another poster...if you can swing it, I would stay at a Mod. Although we've only stayed at one (CBR) I liked it better than the values...but hey...I'd stay at a value any time as well if it meant that either it was a value or no trip at all!!!!

Have fun wherever you choose!

Hi Eeyore's My Favorite,

Can I ask why you prefer POP to POR? Is it the buses or is it something else? I'm going for NYE, and we currently have POP booked because the rates are so much cheaper. But I'm worried about missing the themeing and landscaping of POR. Any thoughts? TIA

Tinkerbell -

Thanks for the nice review of ASMu. I am staying there at the end of August and I am glad to hear that the room refurbishment is done. I liked my stay at POP, but I am looking forward to ASMu being a bit smaller and having a bit more mature landscaping.

By the way - if cost wasn't an issue I would pick POR over POP. POR has amazing landscaping! No comparison! (I'm all about the trees!)

thanks for your help looks like All Star Music for me :thumbsup2 hope i see some Disers there :upsidedow

i have to say that is movies

Ever since we went for our first stay at POP, we've been hooked. The atmosphere, the colors, the music, just the whole theming is great. The lake is also beautiful early in the morning and at sunset. Havent been able to stay anywhere else ever since....

We have been to the other values and enjoyed each and everyone of them. Music is my favorite of the All star resorts and we are returnng later on in the summer (no availibility at POP ). I can't wait to get the feel of a smaller resort after staying 3 times at POP. The new rooms are also something I am really looking forward to seeing.

So in order of personal preference:

Pop
ASmu
ASmo
ASsp.

Have fun whatever you choose!

It's all personal preference. The only real difference is in the food courts. Movies has a bigger and better one than Sports and Music. Pop's is good, but gets way too crowded.

The bus issue, as I've said many times, is not a problem at All Stars. The only time they share buses is first thing in the morning, and who cares? If one bus is too crowded, 90% of the time another one is right behind it. At Pop the bus situation isn't all peaches and cream either - It's a huge resort with only 1 bus stop which means lots of waiting and standing.

I have stayed at all four values. We were at Movies last year and really enjoyed the Toy Story section. The food court was great. We will be at Music for two days this year checking out the newly updated rooms at the Jazz section before we switch to another resort. I will say that I have never had trouble with sharing buses at the values. They have almost always had there own bus and it has never been an issue for me. I found Pop a little too big for my taste. Have fun!!

All Star Music is my favorite resort. It tends to be the quietest of all the values.

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

The Calypso and Jazz buildings are completed and the last I heard they are working on the Broadway Buildings.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Have fun at Disney! :wizard:

All-Star Movies is my families favorite value mostly because it is the only resort we didn't have a real problem with but you can't blame a resort for certain bad experiences but ultimately the All-Star Movies is my favorite value

I love POP, but ASMu is a good choice, too - rooms were just renovated. Last time I was at ASMo - I felt it was starting to get run down.
