Is there wi-fi at Disneyland? If so is it free and would I need a password? The reason I'm asking is I want to use some of the Disneyland apps on my iPhone but I'm coming from Canada and the data roaming fees are crazy ($3/mb). If I can use wi-fi there that would be perfect as I can shut off my data roaming.

I'm sure there isn't. :( But if anyone else knows more, please post. It would be great if they would include free Wifi when in the parks.

.

I'm not sure about in the Dl hotels or their lobby's. But, I usually stay across the street on Harbor Blvd. You can connect to free wi-fi over there. I have even had my laptop with me in the IHOP and have had no trouble connecting to a near by wi-fi. It is just a short walk out of the park.:tink:

No free Wifi. As a matter of fact there was a debatea while back of installing blockers on the rides to prevent cell phone usage on rides to get rid of ringing phones on the rides. With an iphone, you can still get 3G networking?:confused3

We have some Disney apps on my spouse's itouch- I would be very interested to be able to hook up to Wifi when in the parks as well, to be able to make use of those apps that use a connection to display new data as it emerges. (Sigh.)

"technically" there is wifi, but it isnt for the guest to use.

You have answered a question I've been trying to for a bit now! I can go on a plan they said (Telus in BC is my provider) for 25cents per minute for calls, but I don't recall if that plan involves data...as you said in the fine print it says in mine as well $3./MB. I'm going to try to find out if the plan they offered includes a better rate on the data..I"ll let you know here if I do. But in any case I did not really think it through to realize my ride wait time app would be using data and costing me mucho money!! good thing I read this. there has got to be a way!
well so far I've found a plan called US data pass. It's a flat rate of $10. per month, and means you pay $1./MB on top of the $10. so 50MB would cost you $60. as apposed to $150. still not cheap, but the apps like the wait time app, and checking a bank balance quickly etc. don't use much... The new Google GPS app...that is a KILLER!! you could easily have a bill for hundreds if not thousands of dollars!
Now for free wifi...if you are in a location that has free wifi such as Ihop or Hojo's, then it won't cost you anything, no roaming or anything. That's the way to go....now to do some more research on the net about hotspots....
well there appears to be free wifi in the lobbies of the Disneyland Resort Hotels, and many of the hotels along harbor blvd. there was some talk about a spot in the Pizza Port.... I'll keep looking to see what I can find.

Just wanted to mention too..... I bought the Disney Toy Story Midway Mania app for my Iphone....very addictive!! lol... it tells you in the game, when you are in Disneyland around the entrance to the TSMM ride, to go to the gallery in the main page of the game and something will happen. I'll be trying it next month free or not!

There's free wifi in the DLR hotel lobbies but not in the park. There are a few wifi options that will come up inside DL but they're all locked requiring a password.

BTW, HoJo's does not have wifi in the rooms, only ethernet cable to plug into a laptop. Not too helpful if you're using an itouch :)

Bummer!! That's what I was hoping to use when in Cali in January!!

Isn't there some company that would like to sponser wi-fi in the parks? They could even advertise on your screen. I'd put up with that to get it free.

I'll say! I can't imagine Disney won't be getting on this bandwagaon... especially if they are selling apps for the iphone, then telling you to use it at a ride!!
I don't mind having to go sit at the lobby at Hojo's or even take a nice break in GC or DH and use it then for more data heavy stuff, like sending emails back home telling friends and family what an absolutely fabulous time yu are having in the warm Calforinia sun at Disneyland while they are home in bleary cold rainy possibly snowy January in BC! :lmao: :rolleyes1 or taking a pic getting on or off a ride, then sending that...I wonder if you can upload pics to facebook from your iphone?.... that's what I really like, the instant pictures and videos for friends and family....I know that I can upload video to youtube from the iphone...

yeah, that sucks no wi-fi in disneyland, i was going to buy the E=ticket app from DIS for my ipod touch but if i cant use it in the park what is the point. oh well.

If you buy a D-link pocket router you can make your own wireless connection for use in a hotel room that offers a wired connection, (such as the Hojo's), by hooking the wireless router (very small in size) to the wired internet connection (and you would set up your own security using a computer prior to leaving, so other hotel guests don't access your wifi connection. Don't do it too far in advance or it will tend to reset to default. If you have a laptop, no worries, but I don't think you can log into the router's administration page to change security settings and default passwords via your itouch.) It works great for us, and we use a netbook, a windows smartphone wifi, and the itouch. :) http://www.pricebat.ca/D-LINK-DWL-G...OUTER-AP-AIR-PLUSG-802-11G-54MBPS.p_10022952/

It also has multiple purposes, we used to use it as a wireless adapter for our xbox 360 until that portion on our device got broken.

Ebay might have some of the pocket routers for a little less money than online Canadian retailers, hard to say.

Boingo is not a connection that is available in Disneyland, is it? Too bad, as we will likely sign up for an account for when in the airports.

Do you know if a person can step into the lobby at the Grand Californian and update their info. on their itouch Disney apps? Is there a guest user name and password or is it free for all? Thanks, if anyone knows.

You don't need a password to use the wifi in the disney hotels. You just go into settings, then wifi, then click disneyland resort (thats what it is at grand californian), can't remember what it's called at the other hotels. Then a page will open for you to click for access. It may shut off, but you just go in and click it again.

It does work in the lobbies and hotel restaurants too and just outside the hotels. I used it outside the paradise pier hotel the other day whilst sitting on a bench seat outside waiting for the south coast plaza bus to arrive.

I'm from Australia so the roaming charges are just so expensive so understand you not wanting to use it, so I only use the roaming with the wifi in the hotels around disneyland and whist in our room.

As anyone tried the Disney Apps at Disneyland? im curious if those Apps can access the Disney network without a login name.

It's free for all I believe. I am using it right now and don't have a username or password. A screen will pop up, you just click the button on the screen and it's on.

I'm so sure they wouldn't work... I think the iphone apps for Disneyland was mostly designed for the iphone which uses it's own internet access, but for us living in Canada, etc., and paying roaming fees for something like that it's outrageously expensive. That's why the wifi would be so nice. I'd even use a Boingo account if need be, since you can sign up from any country I believe.

It would be really cool though if Disneyland set it up so if you have an itouch (itouch, not iphone I mean) and want to use the apps in the park, that you could have free wifi when using those apps. Great idea, Albort!

Check if they have a data package. I have Verizon and for Extra 20 I get unlimited internet/data. It may be worth adding it to your plan especially if you can remove it without penalty later. I know Verizon allows you to add or remove these things whenever. I had it but turned it off. I know the data rate with them is 1.99/MB otherwise.
