Hello,
Does anyone have information regarding WiFi Access in the Grand Floridian. How much is it, how do you activate it, what do you need, etc. Has anyone ever used this before-how well does it work?

And do you have to pay double if you want to go in your room, too?!? You have to hook up with a wire in the room?

Thanks,

Justhat

ooh-we !

I didn't know Wi-Fi was an option.
My family and I will be staying at the Poly June 20 and would love to connect to the net at night.

I know someone knows the answer to this.

High-Speed Access with a Laptop

As of October 1, 2003, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort began offering high-speed Internet access in its guest rooms, at a charge of $4.95 per hour or $9.95 per 24 hour period. Within the next six months or so, all of Disney's convention hotels and Home-Away-From-Home/Disney Vacation Club resorts are scheduled to get high-speed Internet. The projected dates (subject to change) are:

Yacht & Beach Club - November 4, 2003
Contemporary Resort - December 2, 2003
Grand Floridian - December 2, 2003
Boardwalk Inn and Villas - December 30, 2003
Saratoga Springs Resort - January 30, 2004
Villas at Wilderness Lodge - February 27, 2004
Old Key West - April 2, 2004
Disney now offers Wi-Fi (high speed wireless Internet access) in the public areas of its convention hotels. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled laptop computer or PDA to access the Internet from designated areas of each resort. Smart City is the provider and bills the guest using a secure credit card transaction via an on-screen Internet connection. Requires a wireless interface card (WIC), available for purchase in the resort's business center. $4.99 per hour or $9.95 for a 24-hour period.

Locations for Disney's Wi-Fi access:

Grand Floridian - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Beach Pool
Contemporary - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool
Yacht & Beach Club - Main Lobbies, Convention Center Hallway, Stormalong Bay Pool
Coronado Springs - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool, Francisco's

I called the GF and they weren't sure if you had to pay twice if you wanted room access and wireless access. Does anyone know this? For example, if I pay the $9.95 per day for access in my room, do I also have to pay if I want to connect through wireless at the pool? Or is it all included in the $9.95? They told me for the wireless I would pay directly to the provider, not the GF, and that it might be separate charges. Anyone try it?

Not gonna happen..not gonna happen Bob! You know I AM a Poly girl! I will just hook up with the cell phone..there is more than one way to skin a cat!:wave2:

Okay, we just got back from the GF and according to their concierge staff, it's all separate--room access and wi-fi access. Also, we were with a convention so we didn't want to charge the in-room internet access to the room, but the concierge staff didn't know how to charge it to a credit card separately. We ended up just using wi-fi (which did not work at the pools like they said, it only worked in the mian buiulding and the convention center) since you paid that directly to SmartCity with your own credit card.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm going in less than 30 days and am excited. Too bad about the wi-fi. I'm going to upload pics and make all my coworkers/friends jealous that I'm on vacation- hahahahahaha !
